grenade kit, hold #1 to keep throwing
Seems to solve all problems with having a grenade auto attack. I see no problem with this idea.
“Make Grenade 1 an auto attack”
No.
“Remove ground targeting of Geranade 1”
NOOOOO!!!
“Hold the key for keep attackin”
. . . gives a deeply hug with a tear in my eye VOTE FOR THIS MAN!
“Mentoring engineers / mesmers and showing you what you can do with your fantastic class!
Just pm me for my advice! Always eager to help!”
That’s absolutely perfect, why isn’t this done yet Anet?
good idear is good
…This is definitely the best idea for that situation that I’ve seen yet.
Autoattacking, after all, carries the issue of ‘and then the ground-targeted, autoattacking spell fires constantly,’ while removing the ground-target kind of kills the Grenade Kit’s ability to do…well, what it does, especially given transit times.
Not sure if it goes the ToS, but this can be achieved with 3rd party peripheral software, such as the key-binding software that comes with gaming mice.
Anyone know the specifics if it would violate it or not?

This could be considered as something that would give a player an advantage, and thus would probably be disallowed. It seems possible that a case could be made for medical reasons, though, as many players have medical issues such as carpal tunnel or worse.
I expect Anet to “invent” it no earlier than in 2 years -_-
Or may be we should bump the thread constantly, like the “Hobo Sacks” one.

Welp, here goes my bump then.
Can you please make this happen anet
anet pls my fingers youre causing me health issues and making my insurance premiums go up
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
Or…. Wait for it… Buy a gaming mouse and solve all your problems at once.

The only advantage is medical. I’m pretty sure that Anet is not balancing grenades for “finger stamina.”
Pretty much all gaming keyboards and mice have a “turbo” option, which does this exactly. The truth is that a LOT of grenade engis do this, and I have never heard of one being banned.
Lets be honest, is Anet going to throw the ban hammer around because people’s fingers are getting cramped/tired? Do they really want that PR? That said, I’m sure their official position will be “no.”

As a general rule of thumb, any time you start out with “not sure if this violates the ToS”, it probably does.

Every time this has come up the responce has been along the lines of they dont have the resorces to vet any third party programs and they cant endorse/condone the use of any 3rd party programs without veting them so use them at your own risk as they are a technical violation of the TOS that could be enforced if your caught. On the other hand the unspoken implication has also been that as long as its not being brought to their attention, typicly because its giveing an advantage to the player that gets reported, chances of any action being taken are low. The only way to detect the use of a mouse macro that hits 1 every .5 seconds would be to time the input signals and notice the metronome precision that a human couldn’t reasonably maintain. Unless your doing something else to get their attention for that level of detailed investigation your probably not going to get banned for it.
I wouldnt be surprised either if a significant percentage of grenade engineers used a repeating keypress as an auto attack substatute. Most wouldnt admit it in game or here as that could be construded as bringing it to Anet’s attention but it happens non the less and I’ve not heard of anybody banned for it.
Not sure why this isn’t the case either, since there is tech to release a throw on key depress now in options for aoe attacks. Just use that by default on grenades, but as a toggle
This is the single best idea on how to deal with grenades I have seen yet. Please do this.
Clarishy – Ranger
Tinkershy – Engineer
Devs do not read the Engineer Forum. Please post it somewhere else. I also like the idea

False
They just try their best to give the impression that they don’t read it?
It wouldn’t take any complicated programming that’s for sure.
It would be similar to using a treb or cata where you hold down to increase the power.
Better yet why not make some skills where you hold down the button to make them stronger??? OMG I am a genius. Give a large tell so PvPers can see the charge up. Early stages of GW2 some professions did have charge up skills. Don’t know why they changed.
There’s no way for them to know if you’re using hardware macros unless you go full kitten and make them cycle in like 1ms intervals or something.
