i dont think so unless you know something about rifle buffs that i dont know. sword has a gap closer, and more importantly photon has a 2 sec cd gap closer.

thats exactly one of the reason you dont need sword
yeah but rifle is outdated and elite spec weapons usually end up being just plain stronger. even in their worst positions as 2 skill offhands.
gl getting past stability, reflects, evades, and blocks while you cc yourself though. :/

I do think that Photon Forge is very like Reaper Shroud, the similarities are crazy.
- Longer than standard 130 melee range autos
- Gap closer #2
- Stability (when traited) #3
- Multi-hitting condition spike #4
- Point blank AoE CC #5

The quickness on sword (and lasting longer based on heat) is a compelling enough reason alone for me to seriously look at sword. Especially when I get to keep the meat and potatoes of Engi condi with the pistol offhand.

Guys guys guys…. There are tons of people with tons of different ideas of what an interesting way to play the holosmith would be like, No need to argue about it, make a video of how you play holosmith and make us amazed!!
It’s not really the new Reaper unless it gets a second health bar like Reaper’s Life Force. Without that it will have a very different feel and playstyle.
