It would be cool to see, but mostly useless and would make areas that you arent supposed to get into easily accessible (I got to the bottom of Rata Sum with only the fall damage reduction and some strategically placed jumps)

There’s a slanted cube you can jump onto at the outer edges of the bottom level near one of the bridges. I think it’s in the north-east part of the map.

I caught myself thinking about this the other day. Might have been in WvW.
I don’t think it should be limited to engineers though. They should make a back item that gave that abillity in some way (idea came from a cloak in WoW that has a builti-n parachute).

Come on, imagine an army of parachuters coming down from the sky in WvW? That’d be epic!

Warrior – Dive bomb, Do small area aoe damage equal to fall damage. Go into down instead of death.
Thief – Climb/Claw walls . (downwards only?)
Guardian – Wings, glide downwards + aoe regen
Ranger – ?
Engineer – Parachute, glide downwards + you can use rifle/pistol attacks
Necro – ?

Yeah I was thinking more along the lines as a last minute effort skill ya need to press before impact….something with maybe only 2 sec usage. Though I love all the great ideas. Or maybe even have it as a falling HUD skill (ie: diving goggles flip/twists/parachute only appear while falling)

Hm… maybe give it different properties to make it useful? Maybe make it pull you in a random direction while used on the ground (though we already have so many “knock yourself back” skills) and/or make it blind targets at your landing position. Make the toolbelt skill immobilize a target/several targets just like binding roots does so they can cut themselves free. Also make it reduce falling damage (maybe doesn’t stack with traits to not make it too easy).

Another thing I’d like are binoculars that allow you to zoom in and increases the maximum render range of objects, players, mobs while zoomed in. It could be used to call in an “artillery barrage”.

Though they won’t add anything like that anyways.

Why can’t we have this utility? I used to love to use my invis skill on the other game i played that had one and then parachute down while invis to prevent mobs from aggroing to me. That would be awesome!

They have flying boats why not have parachutes, or do they just post signs up on their boat walls saying , don’t fall, like that’s going to prevent deaths from people falling off the edge of the ships.

Parachute would certainly make much more sense then the “come here and find me” bombs flying everywhere approach of the engineer right now.

Y, slow fall + invisibility was great fun as a mage in wow AB from lumbermill to the blacksmith too.

I miss a slow fall option in GW2, it would make it very easy to get in some of the towers in WvW though, so I guess that’s the reason it’s not in the game.
