pve indirect buff?
If you build for conditions then yes… A little. Overall pow/crit will still be king, even in the live stream they said berzerker will still be BiS for dps
Sorry I was talking about relative dps between professions. We are the last one I was wondering if that is going to change. Zerker gear for pve. Probably going to get rampager armor tho
We´ll get a bit closer because of the sigilchange. Most other classes will not get much more dps with 2 sigils for 2handed weapons.
Probably rampagernades will be the best for dps. Our berserkerbuilds will lose the same dmg as most other classes.

If I read this right you think ENG is last place in terms of DPS? Fot PvE!? This is not a true statement at all, ENG is currently tied with Warrior for the #2 spot in DPS (albeit harder to play than WAR (squishy)) The #1 going to Staff ELE currently. Its all about the gear, ENG really shines at top tier DPS and with the changes to crit damage our ranking “should” stay about the same.
Now if your running a hybrid build that relies a bit on conditions ill bet your DPS is ranked close to the bottom but that’s true of any class/build that’s not optimized properly.
… didn’t intend for this post to sound catty or mean, just an FYI lol don’t even know if that’s what you meant by “We are the last one I was wondering if that is going to change.” if not disregard lol

What.
1) Elementalist
2) Mesmer
3) Thief
4) Everyone else
^
If that was a serious post I want to meet the mesmers you play with lol, and the THFs for that matter.

Is this going to turn into a “look at my HB screencap” thread again?
Those were popular about a year ago. I wouldn’t mind seeing them come back, they were funny.

Ele Lh + scepter
Mesmer Sword off hand phant build (provided 3 phants are up)
Thief basic 25 30 0 0 15 DD in the right might stacking situation.
Everyone else kind of caps out where they cap out (not huge differences).
Due to might stacking engineer is one of the highest dps classes in solo play. If you are looking at those risen giant slaying videos to judge dps you are looking at the wrong place. Party play in the perfect storm (vulnerability capped might capped) is generally how they judge dps. Truth is unless you are in an organized speed run you likely won’t see maximized dps as it is. In any case engineer is near the bottom of the list and it really isn’t that big a deal. Most pugs won’t care.

Engineer is actually like #5 or so? It really depends on the way you choose to calculate DPS. They’re slightly below guardians, about equal with warriors, and definitely above rangers and necromancers. And yeah it doesn’t matter in the slightest because we’re talking like a 10% difference in minmaxed DPS at most between #4 and #8.
The only classes that significantly pull ahead of the pack are eles (about 16k/s) and mesmers (about 13k). Thieves are around 12k last I checked and the rest are clustered between 10k-11k.
That may change with Ferocity since crit damage doesn’t impact all classes equally, but it remains to be seen exactly how they choose to change it. Engineers will definitely go up though because even with a zerk build they have a significant chunk of damage coming from conditions.
Also Ele minmax is fire staff, not LH. LH/Scepter only pulls around 13k.
Maybe 10% of our damage is condition damage in a power build? And zerk is being nerfed by 10% (I don’t know where everyone is getting this number)
So, like, a 1% buff?
Yeah… it’s something. But no.
really bad engineer
Man there is a lot of here say and assumption going on here, to try and clarify what I mean I was talking about sustainable DPS not just a burst combo. Sure s/x ele has crazy burst but throughout a dungeon or event staff will far surpass the DPS. Shatter Mesmer have a little spike but Mesmer is a utility class, I was being sarcastic when I was asking who you ran with.
If you compare a 5 second burst, or 10 seconds for someone to kill a giant that’s not dps. I argue that DPS who ident even be measures under ideal circumstances but rather average circumstances.

It’s closer to 20%. But the point is that that whatever portion of their DPS is condition damage won’t be affected as much as the direct damage portion.

If you understand that much you should also understand why the warrior’s HB isn’t good as the one big number on the screen at the end of the 4-second channel makes it look.
Both staff ele and “utility” mesmer have incredibly high sustained DPS but lack in burst. And that’s exactly the point, you need to look at sustained more so than burst. Especially now that overall DPS is being brought down and it’ll be harder to instagib a boss with 5 players’ worth of burst rotations.

Overall my point is that engineer is top tier dps, well above mesmer and thief. The idea predicated in some of the above posts was that engineer was almost last place in terms of dps ranking, all I’m really trying to say is this is simply not true.

You forgot about the other LH a party member picks up.

Engineer is atm pretty on the top of the dps, since his passive damage is insane. He fills up the gap to 25 stack vulnerability, even if he’s alone (then with bufffood) and the explosive build is able to share permanently 15 stacks of might or in critical situations use all teh explosives for heal.
As for DpS it really depends on the situation. The engi is by far on the top in terms of AoE if there are 5+ targets, or even even with the ele. Single target the mesmer and thief are on the top, however the mesmer depends on the surviability of the phantasms aswell on conditions (iWarlock).
I’ve played many different classes now and the dps is pretty even anyway.
btt:
What the ot means is if every class deals for example 1000 direct damage and the engineer just 800, but 200 with conditions, everyone deals the same damage. Now the direct damage gets nerfed by 10% wich means every class deals 900 except the engi wich deals 920.
And I have to agree, engineer has much bleed and fire damage. I think the warrior will suffer the most, since he has almost 0 condition damage. Aswell the guard I guess. Engi, Necro and Mesmer are having a good time tough. Not sure about Ele and Ranger .

Sword/Sword+Longbow warriors would disagree there. Guards… yeah.
Sword as main hand in pve? Slow adrenaline generator. However I agree with sword offhand against single targets, however a 2nd axe is probably better too if you think about the vulnerability and fury. Also longbow? … yea Warriors will suffer indeed.

I am not so sure regarding mesmers. As phantasm dont benefit from damage multipliets only crit damage
