question about bomb kit damage
Kits have their own bace damage and do not scale with your weapons as far as I know
yes kits do have their own base damage equivalent to an exotic pistol i believe

Thats what I thought but using bomb kit #1’s damage of 407 gives a max damage of 10.7k against a naked glass cannon warrior with the frenzy debuff. I know thats not right. So is there another “weapon damage” number I’m missing?

I recalculated with the base damage of an exotic pistol and I’m coming up with a max hit of around 28k on 916 armor with no frenzy debuff. That would make an engi’s dps the best in the game so thats not right either.
Kit damage is 878 – 969, this equals a weapon strength of 923.5
For comparison (exotic): Pistol/Harpoon Gun 952.5, Rifle 1095.5

you prolly got a typo there, clumsy. i calculated an avg. ~3001 damage without critical hits and asc zerker gear and infusions.
1.25*2383*923,5/916=3001

You didn’t add party buffs, critical damage, or damage percents. I assumed the usuals buffs: 25 might, 25 vuln, and warrior banners. I also used full ascended weapons/armor/trinkets. I ended up with 3633 power after buffs, +75% damage (assuming 4 conditions are always on the enemy), and 2.64 critical damage (includes the 1.5 base).

what about sharing your calculation with us, so that we can see whether/where you got it wrong or not.
You shouldn’t be using 916 for armor. The only way you’re going to get a target with 916 armor is if it’s an enemy in spvp or wvw that isn’t wearing any armor, or invested in any toughness traitlines, or using any toughness trinkets. For reference, the light golems in the heart of the mists have 2,180 armor, the medium golems have 2,330 armor, and the heavy golems have 2,597 armor, at least according to wiki. I don’t know what the average enemy NPC has for armor, but I’d imagine it’s somewhere around 2600.
Using full ascended armor/weapons/trinkets, power food/consumables, banners of discipline and strength, empower allies, frost spirit, 25 stacks of might, 25 stacks of vulnerability, all 12 conditions, on a target of 2180 armor, I’m calculating a max hit of 11,318 for bomb 1 on a 30/30/0/0/10 build. If the target were to have 916 armor instead, that would be 26,936. With the frenzy debuff, that would be 33,670. For even more fun: With Big ol’ Bomb, that would be 60,606 damage.
Of course, you’ll never actually encounter a frenzy’d naked warrior with 12 conditions on him, while you have 2 warrior banners, 25 stacks of might, empower allies, and frost spirit active. If you do, though, take pics.
On a slightly related note, with the aforementioned buffs, but only 5 conditions on your enemy (seriously, how often are you going to have all 12?), your average bomb 1 would do 9,099 damage, leading to over 11k dps just autoattacking. I don’t know the exact aftercast for bomb 1 though, would be nice if someone could provide that.
EDIT: I forgot to add in bloodlust, so those numbers should be about 6.4% higher under optimal conditions.

according to wiki, its 0,92 s per bomb attack.
Bombs also scale better with power than anything else in the game
Bombs also scale better with power than anything else in the game
They have decent scaling but they also are delayed blasts so unlike other skills you can’t apply them easily to moving targets, and they’re easier to dodge. Unless traited the radius is also pathetic.
Anyway, time for some math.
bomb kit weapon power at level 80 = 969 on the highest hit roll
naked power stat at level 80 = 916
naked toughness stat at level 80 on target = 916
bomb #1 ratio: 1.250
A naked engineer with absolutely no gear or traits with a bomb kit will deal (on non-crit) against a naked target with absolutely no gear or traits at most: 969×916×1.25 / 916 = 1211 per hit
Medium exotic armour without toughness grants 1064 extra defence.
An engineer with decent bonus power (say, 916 bonus) versus a medium armour target who has no bonus toughness will deal at most: 969x(1832)x1.25 / (916+1064) = 1120 per hit
Verdict: You can make anything look amazing if you use it against a target who is frenzied with maximum vulnerability stacks while having offensive boons stacked on yourself. I don’t really understand the point of the posts in this thread that say bomb kits can deal massive damage against naked vulnerable targets. If you took the same target and clipped them with two hits from Hundred Blades it would probably deal upwards of 60k damage as well, let alone over 200k if they got hit by the full combo.
