so when using rocket belt its now ground target and has a very very high arc at its 1500 range.

now as a grenade engineer i can see this being very very usefull for clearing walls when we lay siege how ever

THE PVER inside me is screaming bloody murder for this.

1. alot of dungeons are low roofs / arches etc and when i fire it more then 600 + (for scope) it explodes as it arcs high.

2. underwater combat with this is now very annoying if im higher them 1500 and cant target the ground i cant force the rocket to impact my target during its arc or have the target “obstruct” its pathing. and is now ground target underwater to.

3. its so stupidly low most of the time the target either moves or is killed b4 it hits (this is wvw and events)

the double damage is very nice and it is a welcome change to have it ground targeted.

how ever please can u change its arc so its in line with grenade arc. so it acts as a secondary grenade barrrage in terms of cooldown and dmg as its a non spread attack its single target dmg is nice.
keep its speed just greatly reduce its arc so its inline with the grenade arc.

I am not happy about the rocket toolbelt change. I really really really miss the old animation! I like that the rocket is bigger, but by the eternal alchemy it is so bloody slow and unwieldy. I can see a use for clearing walls (although I have not tried that yet because of the insane queue for WvW,) but for literally every other thing, by the time the rocket actually hits where you told it to, the mob is back home with his feet up on the table drinking a beer and yelling at the kids to shut up.

I love the new rocket belt for wvw as a zerker nuke build. Rifle jump in, point blank rocket into a grenade barrage and you have a pile of corpses laying all around you. Even better is throwing a nuke into a group of rezzers or onto a point, clearing way of anything or anyone on it.
It’s also great for tower defense, letting you line ‘o sight rammers, attackers or knocking unreachable siege pieces.
I think the best part about it is that it’s a hidden killer, it has a super high arc for long range shots so people barely ever see it coming, it makes little noise, and scales better than a rifle jump landing.

I’ve actually made an entire build that revolves around smashing things with the new tool belt skill, it’s great!

You’re giving up a utility slot for a grenade attack that hits slightly harder but with a much longer delay…..

Just compare it to a single hit of Shrapnel Grenade.

I think of it as another grenade barrage that you can chain up, sure you sacrifice a fair bit of utility (I use toolkit rocket turret grenades, so no stunbreak, but I run in a wvw organized group of 10-15, so I have near perma stability and lots of supporty friends)

And as the team nuke, the ability to lob another “grenade barrage” gives my team the damage needed to put multple people into the floor in that crucial second

Damage wise, the average crit of the rocket does around 8k-13k per man (on my build, zerker supreme) couple that with 8k-24k grenades barrage followed by a 5k-17k rifle jump, and you have a very potent combo, all at aoe point blank or max range too.

Of course, I’m not saying that it’s the end all solution, but it sure is a breath of fresh air from the other engy builds that I’m sure everyone is so used to. At the end of the day, don’t we all play engy for those fun quirky builds?

I wouldn’t call new build opportunities a case for settling, rather I think it’s like along the lines of macgyver, taking the few tools and tricks of the engy and turning it into something beyond imagination. And in this case, an unbelievably strong nuke

Besides, who doesn’t love being able to perform an aoe ~41k burst in 2 seconds?

If you want to run a straight up suicidal build, Rocket Turret is a great choice to increase raw damage, in place of a stunbreak. Nobody is saying you should take Rocket Turret over grenades, like you seem to think.

I don’t like it. At all. At max range it takes the rocket like 5 seconds to impact again, that is if I’m not inside where I won’t even be able to use it at max range since it’ll just hit the ceiling and explode(awesome design on that btw, anet.)
Are we expected to predict the enemy movement 5 seconds in the future and hope they’ll be there when the rocket finally lands? With a large increase in speed the rocket would be moderately better, it’s a rocket after all. Making it fire straight out from the character rather than into the air would make it pretty good.

Or making it fire straight out from the character from range 1-1000 and from 1000-1500 range it fires as it does now, straight up into the air like a mortar.

Just my opinion.

Edit: Just tried it in a dungeon, even from 600-1000 range the rocket is just too kitten slow, even a snail could outrun it. It’s horrible, just horrible. Even when predicting where the enemy would be they would still manage to move away before the rocket flew to the target area.
I can only imagine it’s utterly useless in WvW in it’s current state except maybe for bombing walls, but even then the enemy could see it coming and have enough time for a tea party before moving out of the way.

Did you see the flame turret tool belt skill change ?
Now it’s like a ranged incendiary bomb, with longer burn duration. Totally buffed compared at the old one.
