i’m wondering if the eng community should ask Anet to convert Engineer pistol skills to a raw damage output setting. sure, the bleeds and burns and poisons are nice, but after the confusion nerf the 3 skill is useless to a degree that i can’t even fathom. yeah the blind is nice, but i cared more about the 500 confusion tick on 2 stacks. now it’s like..150.
opinions? do you think we’d be better off ditching the 3 skill as it is now for something like thief’s unload? or perhaps something else?

The confusion nerf (WvW only) was exactly 50%, so if you were getting 500 before, you’ll get exactly 250 now. If you use zero kits and only pistol skills 1-4, the nerf might have dropped your total damage over time down by 8% or so. And no, pistols should not be changed to direct damage. That would leave engineer without a condition damage weapon, which would devastate our tournament build and most of our WvW builds.

I don’t mind discussing nerfs and the confusion nerf may have been a bit heavy-handed, especially for mesmers. Let’s just be reasonable with the suggestions.

to be honest, i was half kittening a condition build so it was probably more around 400. still that isn’t a huge reduction, but it means need to stack twice as much cond damage to reach the 400 mark again. granted the other pistol skills are still good, comparing them to what 3 now does is interesting at least.

i would love to see all the darts actually hit the target. that’d be nice. how about poison pullet instead?

Would poison pullet be anything like the Ranger’s warhorn skill that calls hawks to attack your target? Bright green and black chickens!

But seriously, having the darts all hit would be greatly appreciated. Or at least a better chance to hit.

I would too, missing poison dart shots is a pain. they need to make every shot hit no matter out movement or position on that one.

on top of that the condi damage is not equal across the board. a bleed is a bleed imo they need to address this. a burst damage thief should not be doing more bleed damage per tick then an all condi built engineer on any plane of existence. It’s ridiculous.

I disagree, this makes it so much easier for them to balance. Not only that but then you go down the road of “why does that class do more bleed than mine!?” and such. It’s much better being normalized.

Wouldn’t a burst damage Thief be built for power, crit, and crit damage? How are they doing more bleed damage than an Engi with 1400+ condition damage? I am not familiar with how to build a Thief, but burst damage builds usually go with berserker type gear.

I don’t mind our bleed damage. Its our number one and we can apply other conditions so much better than other classes like the thief. I rather have weaker bleeds while also having poison, burns and confusions even with the nerf.
