I like Grenade Kit (and Bomb Kit), and totally understand that AoE attacks have no targets and therefore cannot be set to auto-attack. However, the long and short of it is that I found myself not just sacrificing a lot of attack speed in order to remain mobile during combat, but also on the verge of developing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome if I continue to use it, particularly when the basic attack is controlled by my little finger. :-) I guess I am not good enough to press both “wasd” for movement and “1” for basic attack with my left hand at the same time. This is probably just a matter of play style and personable preference, and I am not hopeful of a solution, but am just checking if I missed something before giving up my Grenade Kit. you can usually get by with strafe + grenades. i use my ring and index to strafe and my middle to throw grenades. also if you go into options and turn free camera on, you can run in a direction, flip your camera around with left click and throw grenades behind you.

Practice Practice Practice. Sometimes I go to PvP and just hold the look back key and try hitting all the objects while I run away from stuff. Try to keep your mouse below the enemy health bar while moving the camera so you know where it’s going to go. If you are hitting Grenade more than once per second, you’re doing it wrong. If you hang out in grenade kit for too long, you’re missing out of damage. Whenever I’m attacking this is my rotation:

1. Grenade Barrage
2. Freeze Grenade
3. Shrapnel Grenade
4. Launch Rocket (Rocket Turret)
5. Place Rocket Turret
6. Activate Rocket Turret
7. Jump Shot at Close Range
8. Blunderbuss
9. Acid Bomb
10. Back to grenades

That or at least some version of that. If you keep spamming 1, you’re missing out on thousands and thousands of damage.

Good point about being less reliant on the basic attack once I have more kits/skills to swap to. Also trying the “look behind” trick. Thanks.

Don’t bother with using only the left click to look behind you…. You need to also go into your options menu and bind the “look back” to an easily reachable jey(I use “x”) then while pressing look back/forward run/left click to pan if you need to turn the camera without changing the direction you’re running. Then lead and spam away.
