I love toolkit really much ( prybar, magnet , pull), i would like to have one for myself in real life . After playing for a long time with nades and toolkit ( usually with elixir S and sometimes with EG) with pistol pistol or pistol shield ( rabid ) I tried to take bomb instead of toolkit , take a shield and so to play the old bomb nades build . I am really really impressed how this build is strong, i have a great improvements of damage even in 1 vs 1 . Why did it go out of meta ? just a curiosity. For which fight is it weaker than classic toolkit naddes build ?

simple:
Bombkit brings no sustain – except for the blind – the burning gets compensated by IP + runes of balthazar. the 5 stacks of confusion are also available on Toolkit, and the gluebomb is on a way too long cooldown to be as effective as box of nails.
therefore people took toolkit for its additional pull and block, and happily traded BoB for prybar and throw wrench.

bombkit brings awesome aerial denial, but the hard and soft cc on toolkit is simply too good. add on top of that the shortest cd for a block in gw2 and you have all the reasons why toolkit outperforms bombkit every day in pvp.

On top of that you get a free trait-slot from the former forceful explosives and can opt for either shrapnel or exploding turrets, which both bring better dmg and/or control than the former trait.

Completely disregarding the above, the question if bombkit is better than nades is solely up to personal taste since both bring their pros and contras. that’s why the meta is called 2-kit, because it always features elixir S (welp, slick-shoes are a thing as well nowadays) , toolkit, and either bombs OR nades. the meta shifts ever so slightly, but toolkit is a solid part in it for quite some time, and so far no one is crying NERF so I guess it stays a bit longer in that neat spot as well.

if you have nades take the tool kit. it brings something new, whereas bombs and nades fill a very similar role.

I’m going to say toolkit is too essential to give up, ever, in PvP. The right question would be grenade kit vs bomb kit, and that comes down to play style and team comp – would you benefit more from area damage and condis from grenade kit or the added CC from bomb kit?

To answer OPs question, tool kit, every day, all day long. Tool kit is love, tool kit is life. Tool kit is your best friend and your lover. Tool kit is the smell of fresh ground coffee after a sleepless night.
