Immobilize maybe? As in rifle w/ net turret? Possibly a Bomb kit? Can you be a bit more descriptive?

No one is really talking about “imba” engineer builds. Engineers are popular in solo queue because they’re a jack of all trades type profession, so they’re obviously a good choice for random teams.

Engineers aren’t extremely popular in WvW or team tournaments. Teams that run engineers usually use a grenade/bomb build that plays kind of like a sidepoint duelist with teamfight dps through grenades. In teamfights, it’s very vulnerable to focused fire, conditions (usually) and especially immobilize. In duels, it’s vulnerable to ranged sustained dps, like a necro, a phantasm mesmer, a thief who knows how to stay in shortbow, etc.

Yes, but somehow in the tournaments all teams with engi lost vs a team without engi. Of course only very few left. The others are replaced by warrior, necro or ranger.

I guess I watched 8 games and counted 3 engineers.

Play Vox’s Bunker build: high risk, high reward. The more skilled you are, the better it is. Everybody can play a bunker guardian, but a bunker engineer is something else: better if you are capable of playing properly, worse if you are not.

Yes sure, Engi bunker is nice. But why should a team take a Engi as bunker if guardian, warrior or ranger are better?

I played this weekend against Rozbuska.5263 with this rolfbunker build. He was very hard to kill and even with 3 people it took long to kill him. Anyway. I guess there is no spot for an Engineer in a tpvp group at the moment in my point of view and I play Engi only.

Because they are not, if you are skilled enough. Also, engi bunker can actually kill people.

I am a fan of engineer, do not get me wrong. But as a spirit ranger you kill the people much faster, bunker your spot with less skill and bring something on the table in team fights.

As an engineer you can bunker against more people as the spirit ranger can do. But you can not kill some classes, you bring little help in team fights.

I think the advantage an Engineer has over other Bunkers is the ability to decap. It makes us very effective Far-point assaulters as you can decap then “Bunker” their home point requiring one or two members of their team to come take you down.

During that time, your team mates “should” clean up home/mid.
