wvw power build craft help
So is it possible to make a good build with rifle and toolkit being the majority of my damage without going static discharge? Any ideas, suggestions or improvements welcome… you can also tell me its just garbage because i cant tell.
to just directly answer this question, no. rifle and tk are utility and burst weapons, not dps. depending on them only for dps will leave you wanting more. the burst skills have cds, and the autos are meh for dps. you need something more — grenades, bombs, and or sd are what will give you much better sustained or burst dps. flamethrower might be workable, but its auto is meh too.

and with “meh” he means that the flamethrower auto kills you in zergs, due to retaliation.
give me a moment and I craft you a 2 suitable zerg builds, not going for s/d (even tho I personally like it the most)

the purpose of this build is the melee blind-spam, loads of aoe-cc and blast-finishers.
The primary reason why you should take thumper is the 1 sec of stability on its stunbreaker. that is barely enough time to stunbreak and immediately switch to toolkit and its block to avoid the hammer-trains’ wrath.
you will have virtual soft-cc immunity, so you can keep up with warriors, but instead of leaps, you can use the TK pull to deposition eles and necros into your own zerg for some quick love.
you can use the thumper offensively (place and instantly overcharge for 2 knockbacks in a row) or use it to blast waterfields 2 times (2.640 healing) by placing it, again overcharging it instantly and blowing it up right away.
basically I just have put exploding turrets in there so your healing-turret gains a offensive use as well as enhancing your supply-crate (try to aim into nullfields or wells of corruption for max efficiency)
the rest is just your usuakl bombkit with fire/smoke field, soft-cc and the raw aoe-dmg of rifle with jumpshot and blunderbus.

almost the same build but with few changes.
you now run nades instead of bombs to support your zerg from afar, and got the option to stealth-save people in downstate or go for a stealth-stomp yourself. toolkit is still there to save your bottom, you still can use its long-range pull to deposition eles / necros, and your supply-crate will still wreck havoc inside a null-field or WoC.
anyways, you will trade your heavy cc-capabilities and blasts for the convenient range that nades (and general backline-play) offer.

these builds are just examples of engis’ power-play. some more useful stuff to think about is the heavy dmg and boon-striping on mines, the high spike-dmg of static discharge, and the insane cc on slickshoes if your enemies happen to be stripped off of stability. also stunbreaker become less an issue in good organized groups that have 1 or 2 guardians for stability, so opting for additional utility is a viable choice if you can live without our “mandatory oh-cat-button”.

well not only that but you prolly shouldnt rely on it while roaming either, its only about as good as hip shot

definitively true for roaming, but in zergs server-lag is a value you always have to consider as well, which often enough means that you’re forced to spam nothing but #1. it really helps to sit in bombkit in such moments^^
Just go Celestial and use whatever you want.
