it is pretty close to a cookie cutter sepc imo. although is would drop healing symbols for empowering might as the “standard” issue.

healing symbol are only effective when you also trait for large and long duration.

I do not care for the 10 points in zeal. the 10% damage against burning foes is nice but i find the all other lines have stronger benefits. Valerous defense can be very strong if you pay attention to and 10 in radiance gives overall more options to trait diffrently with other weaponsets. In zeal i only find the 10% appealing. the rest is not that great

this spec works great with every weapon besides scepter and torch.

squishy? i would considered it a rather defensive build

I think it’s important when designing a build that works “everywhere”, you should keep an eye on any possible major trait that could be chosen in a specific spot. Major traits are easily swappable.

I really think the 5 points in Virtue is just too good to not take it, especially if you run Altruistic healing but then again I really like this trait so maybe I’m not objective.

The build above was inspired by a WvW video I saw -below, after watching that video I leveled about 20 levels and did a few hours of PvP and was surprised at how well it did. Now I can’t get the same stats as the guy in the video as he is 80 doing WvW.

If any one could critique the clip and help me out build wise in light of what you watch:

So I watched 5min of it. I am not sure exactly what kind of damage I do, but man were those engagements really long! I like how she (or he?) could survive multi-man vs 1, but idk battles that last that long can be dangerous (especially with reinforcements) so I think that build is good, however I think giving out some vit/toughness for dps would be better in closing out the battle quicker. And maybe switch to JI on one of the stats because it seems like she’s being kited a lot. As long as you are side by side the enemy, and both have speed boons, you can damage them because you move at the same speed, even better if their speed boon is not active. I normally fight up to 4 people with my build no problem and down at least 2 in the first 3-5 combos. Anyways, it’s a good build but way too defensive for my tastes.

At the very end of the video he gives only :

What traits did he use and which gear?
I see him stacking g Might so I assume he is using that Major Trait and not the healing from Symbol?

Also his Shouts have shorter CD so I know he has that Trait.

Mobility between Sword port and lower CD shouts you should have little issue!

Amended the build but note the Rune that adds 5% to burning foe, coupled with 10% from Trait -and don’t forget that trait spot can reduce fall damage by 50% which I always run in WvW- net damage against burning foe is 15%!! Add to that the non stop Might stacks and we have some nice damage.

I run 15/0/25/30/0 and Jalis armor and Dolyak runes. I am 99% PvE solo and I just don’t die. I am all about the symbols! I use a mace/focus and either a GS or staff depending on the situation.

This build is indeed “cookie-cutter” build, I love it because he is good 1vs1, 1vsX, small scale and large scale.

Most of the time my traits are: 10/0/30/30/0, or 0/10/30/30/0 (my favorite) or 0/0/30/30/10.
The gear I’m using is full Knight. My weapons are all PWR/PREC/TGH. My jewels are all Emeral Orichalcum with Exquisite Ruby on them. I buff myself with Flatess of Lemongrass + Superior Sharpening Stone (the buffs become really high with my toughness).
In this vid I stack might because of the GS and because of Empowering Might.
My runes are superior runes of the pack.
My sigil are all sigils of the hydromancers + sigil of energy on my 1h.

I switch often swiftness shout for the stability shout.
When I playing on small scale I always stack stability, on large scale I take Wall of reflection ofc.

This build is a good DPS build and a good Def build, depend of your weapons really.
And whatever your spec, your dodge will always >>>> than the rest :p Vigorous Precision but high crit% wtf.

What are your stats after all is said and done? I had some replies from paid tournament players who negatively criticized the build as being too squishy against hard players.

My build isn’t made for sPvP at all.

The build this guy gave you is just one of the best you can have for a Guardian in sPvP.

If anything I’d say he’s too tanky. You’re losing too much damage and not really getting enough back for that extra 10 in Honor. Put it into either Zeal or Radiance IMO.

Heal a lot, crit a lot, grant might to allies, and still do decent damage with consistent burning on all nearby allies.

Generally I’m either sword+focus or Mace+Focus, but I sometimes use Mace+Torch, or a GS or Hammer. I don’t really like weapons specific builds as I swap around a lot.

Also, “Hold the Line” in that build can be swapped for whatever you want. Signet to reduce damage, sure. “Save Yourselves” why not? It’s no biggie.

Are those your stats with or without the food/sharpening stone buffs? My gear setup is fairly different, and I’m trying to see what pieces I can swap out to get my Power stat up. But looking at your numbers above and running the calculations, I don’t see how you get that high from gear alone. 3k attack and 3.3k armor means you need close to 2k power and toughness, and 46% crit is close to 1.8k precision. I don’t see how that’s possible without taking into account consumable buffs. Is that what you did?

The traits should be pretty much workable in ALL PARTS of the game. It is a bunker build that can hurt…a lot.
