were you surrounded by allies? the binding blade projectiles are only created if targets are within range so they wouldnt hit that hard if you were alone.
He might have used this skill while in same exact place as you, with your allies nearby.

Yes, that’s the highly unlikely prerequisite I was talking about (A MM Necromancer was nearby).
I didn’t create this thread, because I am confused about kittens, but because I’m curious if this is the highest hitting ability currently ingame.

no

Ele churning earth is the hardest hitting skill in the game especially when combined with the amount that of dmg modifiers eles get.
I’ve insta’d people with binding blade before. Have one with 5×3703 on video.

Churning earth does not even come close.

That’s from WvW, you don’t get those numbers in SPvP.

The damage of a shatter mesmer comes from different sources (Power Block, iBerserker, Mirror Blade, Mind Stab and Mind Wrack), but they all hit for less damage (Mind Wrack can get near that tho, but than again, you first need some ability to generate three clones).

Isn’t it just an awesome ability though?
Sending flying spirit blades at enemies impaling them, sometimes killing them.
Considering that landing all 5 projectiles on a target happens once in a blue moon, it might as well hit like a truck.

or he/she got spiked by several guardians “3,2,1 BIND!!!”
The skill only creates one projectile per enemy in the radius when activated so there had to be atleast 5 people in range, but all 5 projectiles landing on the same person is suspect. Either they were all stacked and somehow just hit the first target in the line or something buggy is occurring.
Needs some skill…
Sometimes -especially in team fights- I drop my current target to GS leap through them then I use my BB immediately. This works fine also in 1v1 against mesmer, MM necro, spirit ranger, etc…
If you can judge the distance (it’s easier since the patch) you can BB-BB pull-WW to death basically anybody.
But this needs:
1, the target is on top many others or relatively far from the teammates and they are close to each others (like MM necro or might-water blasting situation where the prey is outside of the circles). Such way all the blades can hit you first.
2, if a group of players are standing on a top of each others they deserve to die to aoe bombs anyway. Spreading out even in white circles is always a good idea.
But if for example a MM necro decides to DS leap on me and I cast BB and he gets 10k damage… Do not melee a Guardian. Has been said many times
Binding Blade’s dot scales off condition damage so maybe he just had high condi dmg and his ticks were hitting you for that much?

The blades are sent to the closest five targets. They’re not really projectiles, but the wide beam much like from a whirl, but directed toward a target. If any part of the whirl beam strikes an object on the way to it’s intended target, it hits that object.
If your target has 4 additional targets close by but blocked by the target at time of beam creation (between you and the other targets)… kapow.
