3.6k Armor+ 40% Crit?

Numbers are perfect for WvW but honestly, for PvE that’s way too much armor. Getting around 3.2k would already be the max and even then you won’t help out your group. Things that don’t hit hard still won’t with 400 armor but things that 1 hit will still 1 hit with that armor. Could I see that build anyway?
You’re way over-investing into Toughness; I personally aim for 3100-3200 as an absolute max. You can probably eek out another 3k-4k health, 25% crit damage, and more healing power for synergy with pretty much every aspect of the Guardian class.

Would be nice if you actually showed us what you were wearing, but I will say that you do have too much armor. Somewhere around 3k is what I tend to aim for, but I’m usually ok with less, but that’s just my opinion.
Also, you know it’s ok to wear some Berserker gear. Toting around a whole set is fine too, as it’s a matter of play-style.
I would change armor for health or healing power.
3200 is enough armor, you need more sustainability or more health pool vs conditions.
First make sure the crit dmg ur taking is actually from optimal sources (different pieces of gear have different efficiencies on stats per % crit dmg).
Add more vitality in exchange of about 300-400 toughness if you plan on going to WvW.
If you show us your build with gear, we can adjust a few gear choices to better optimize your build. Stats don’t say enough.
“Humanity cannot grasp Utopia for it refuses to be worthy of it”
Aim for the 17-19K HP mark since conditions ignore that 3.6K armour and you pick up a hell of a lot jumping into a zerg but other than that for WvW it’s pretty solid though I would recommend linking your gear so that people can access that it’s all maximised.
“Jim’ll Fix It and if he doesn’t it’s not broken”
Current Meta says no to the 3.6k armor. You would want more Vitality over that do to rampant condition spamming.
I have a personal # goal of keeping 3k armor, just for those few power builders. Though my current gear set up has about 50 less than 3k.

-Sigh- Take your elitism elsewhere. You’re not wanted here.
3.6k Armor + ~40+% Crit, ~35% Crit damage, 2.8k Arrack, 15-16k HP, 200 Healing.
So what do you think? Would this work in PvE/WvW?
I’m guessing 3.6k is overkill, for what total armor number should I be aiming for?
And no, I don’t want to play as a zerker.
Want the most damage with the best survivaility.
That toughness is okay for both. But to know if it will work with your build, we’ll have to see your build.

Wait so its only Elitist if you are pro Zerkers? What do you call people who outright are against Zerkers like the OP? He didn’t post any build, just a statement of “Will it Work” and that he won’t go zerker. Isn’t the process of outright eliminating a possibility worse than advocating one?

Not especially. His choice to not play zerker is just as subjective as your own enjoyment of the gearset. However, an assumption that he “doesn’t care about being the best groupmate possible” was very rude. He very likely wants to maximize his effectiveness within a specific gear he enjoys (especially if he’s rping).
There’s nothing inherently wrong with zerkers until you start treating other set ups like lepers because they don’t play to your specific set of enjoyment.
Also ‘pro zerker’? That kind of suggests his point. I’m not saying you’re not an excellent zerker, or that good zerkers aren’t great at damage mitigation, but some people just don’t enjoy the tightwire gameplay. Assuming that makes them ‘less pro’ because they choose not to do it (even if they can) makes you elitist.
I believe what he is considering elitist is that your post is highly suggesting that to be the best group mate you require berserkers gear. One does not have to have max seekers gear to be the best group mate.
Here’s the thing. I’m talking about Maximizing potential. You can bring, Aegis, Stability, WoR, Team Condi Removal, and Good DPS in Zerker Set. Not in Zerker set, you bring the same minus the last one. My point is about being the BEST possible teammate. Not just a good one.
And the reason I brought that tone, was how the OP dismissed Zerker like its the plague.(Especially when he didn’t even say what gear he was using, though we can make some pretty accurate inferences.)

That is your opinion and you can hold onto that opinion if it feels the most correct to you because everyone’s will be different. Using the term “best” for anything can be highly subjective as there is no real evidence to say one thing is better than the other. I’ve had a member in Knight’s armor prove to be very helpful to the group as they can hold mobs in place instead of 5 zerkers running around avoiding getting hit with mobs running everywhere.
All the op was saying is that he doesn’t want to play zerker’s gear. Why he doesn’t want to play that is unknown and we should not make any rash judgement deciding why we think he doesn’t want to play zerker.
The only thing the op asked really is:
So what do you think? Would this work in PvE/WvW?
with the confines of not playing zerker gear for whatever reason he has chosen and that he wants to maximize dps and survivability.
If we do not have enough information then we can kindly ask.
The notion of survivability is also a subject worth mentioning. I think it is important to stress to people that if you rely on gear for survivability, then you will be met with heartache on most of the more difficult dungeons/fractals. Survivability is determined by dodging, blocking and dodging.(Trust me, full knight won’t survive 4 red Circles of Lupicus).
Now I am proponent of new people running Knight’s armor with zerker trinkets until they learn their class better. So if he would have come in with an open mind, that would have been a clear suggestion. Instead he came in with a mental block on zerkers, and a preconceived notion that in order to survive he needs to have an kitten load of toughness. Both of which should be corrected.

Honestly the dismissal is probably just because he’s just sick of certain zerkers (not trying to be passive aggressive there, just general.) trying to shove their build down his throat on the forums. Because one must admit, the “discussions” around it get very, very heated. Plus I thought there was some establishment that Zerker in WvW is harder to pull off, so its likely a mute point anyway.
Regardless, so long as his goal isn’t to speed run (which I know I personally don’t find fun), but to play with friends or just pug, its really his prerogative. He can maximize his potential in certain gear (not system potential but specific concept potential) that he thinks fits him and be just as successful. Maybe not clear content as quick, but like I’m assuming here, no speed run, so why does it matter?
And you can bring all that and still have good Dps in non zerker gear. You just won’t have optimal dps. Moderate to good would be more average, Zerkers gets you higher than that, in my understanding.
But I understand your point. I blame all the aggression (and people insulting others) around the play style preferences on the forums for making a heated environment where these types of misunderstandings happen.
Zerker in WvW is a specialized burst build type gameplay. Useful in small team roaming. There are some pretty awesome videos of it doing serious damage. I haven’t got around to trying it. In WvW I run a build meant to help with condi spam(when I do roam, but my server has been getting its teeth kicked in).
As far as the misunderstanding, I may have went a little overboard on my original comment at the OP. I think I’ve been reading too many forum posts as well.
I’ll let the thread play out as it will. Though with no more input from OP, all this may be for nothing lol.

Either you go zerker/sin DPS or you build for support. Building tank mode is simply not feasible in any group environment since there’s no way to hold aggro and having a lot of armor won’t help that much if you have no way of refilling your health between hits. Building support isn’t ideal for PvE since DPS is king, but at the very least you’ll heal your teammates too so you’ll be adding something.
Support is usually tank-ish though.
Especially if it’s a commander’s build.
Just saying.
“Humanity cannot grasp Utopia for it refuses to be worthy of it”
Zerkers in every profession are specialised and tend to be very unforgiving if any mistakes are made since you’ll be taking incredible amount of damage in exchange for you dealing the same to others.
It’s a very split second, on the ball, pick your moments kind of gameplay and that really isn’t for everyone since some people find it more stressful than enjoyable. If you play a flawless game then there isn’t much you can’t rip to pieces however 1 mistake could be you in the downed state wondering what 1 shot you.

Define “group” and in what environment. If we talking WvW, if your are solo roaming or doing small group ops (3-8 peeps), then perhaps zerkers a re better way to go. That being said, if you are running with small to large zerg stuff, PVT is the bomb for a frontline guardian spec’ing support, etc. and will indeed make a valuable team group mate.

for PVE “most damage with best survivability” run 15/15/0/20/20 hammer based. permanent protection makes you sponge hits, and a good hp pool helps too. you also bring all the support that a guardian is wanted for.
berserker’s gear is obviously the best, but you can use some knight’s too (though this build is durable enough to play full zerk). just remember to always have a crit dmg jewel to maximise your stat gain (so preferrably zerk jewels)

I personally think an easier build to run would be 15/15/0/30/10 build. You get even more HP with condi removal through shouts, while still getting master of consecration. Then as mention protection from the hammer auto-chain will help too. I think 30 into Honor makes life so easy, since the shouts are freaking amazing, and you can get condi removal on top of it.
I run a 10/30/0/10/20 build, but this one requires a lot more skill swapping between engagements, and is much more unforgiving to new players IMO. I hate using my Virtue to remove condi, but its there for a “Oh kitten” moment. For newer players, using your virtue for condi removal could have dire consequences since you need to use your elite skill just to get HP regen back.

oh yeah, forgot about the PoV variant. I would use that too, because you can abuse the “bugged” 2 condi remove on PoV till the next patch.

You’re gonna hold aggro from humans? If I hit a guy with a Fireball in WvW and he takes 1k damage and that doesn’t even register a change in his health bar, I can tell he’s full tank and just switch targets.

Actually there’s an even better alternative, you tag him for your condition spammers, load him up, and epidemic.
I don’t remember the build, was bored and used the skill editor online.
Basically If I recall correctly – 0/30/30/10, Knight Armor (Power/Precision/Toughness) Dolyak Superior Runes, Trait that converts Toughness into Precision, + Crit for Sword + Toughness for Shield, Valkyre/Knight rings/earrings.
Tried rebuilding it, however could no longer find the correct combination.
Back to topic, I have Glass Cannon Zerker Thief and Semi-Zerker Warrior, and personally, I dislike the idea of playing a zerker Guardian.

Dolyak runes are trash. 30HPS regen is worthless.
