Altruistic healing or monk's focus.
From my experience, meditation builds can spike heal better than altruistic. Altruistic gives smaller or greater healing over time, but can give spike heal to some extent. But I only play pve/wvw so don’t take my words for facts. Maybe it wont apply the same way to spvp.
Also, since you run symbols, altruistic healing can be even more viable, since each boon tick from symbols give a small, but noticeable heal. I would say its up to you which one you choose. If you like symbols or shouts, altruistic healing is awesome together with them.
What kind of playstyle do you have? What fights do you get into?
Altruistic healing greatly improves with allies nearby, while meditations are better for solo play. It really comes down to what you are doing, either roaming alone or going with others.
Altruistic Healing heals you for ~70+ per boon application. It goes really well with Empowering Might, symbols, shouts and anything else that applies boons to allies. Staff #4 becomes about as good of a heal as your #6 if your party is within range.
Monk’s Focus heals you for ~2k+ per meditation, excluding Merciful Intervention. Goes particularly well with Smite Condition which has a short 20s cooldown. But you don’t really get any direct benefit from having allies around.
Which one is better will depend on the rest of your build and playstyle.
There’s not a black and white answer. It depends on the type of fights you tend to get into and how you want to build your char. AH has higher healing potential in a large group, but it comes in smaller amounts at a time. Monk’s typically heals more than AH in small fights and 1v1 situations and heals in larger chunks. Monk’s requires you to take meditations for utilities, which is a dealbreaker for me, since I don’t like having my healing died to utilities which I prefer to use tactically instead of when I need heals. Meditation skills are outshined by other utilities imo since we have other good condition removal options.
