Ancestral Grace vs Merciful Intervention
At the very least it should have like a 35 second cooldown. The 50 second cooldown is totally unjustified.
forgetting one thing here , Merciful Intervention is a Utility skill , this can be used with any weapon of your chosing including a full power DH longbow or hammer .
atleast a druid has to trade a optimal damage weapon for its heals thats the difference and its a weapon too .
you can’t compair a weapon heal which deal no damage as a weapon skill to Utility skill that can be combined with a Damaging weapon.
don’t use Asteral grace as the Justifaction for Merciful Intervention’s cooldown.
and do consider that it is effected by Meditation cooldowns while the druid has to use quick draw to get anylower than 12seconds and give up a Trait line for the druid to use asteral grace .
40seconds Traited down from 50seconds , if you are after a more Reasonable cooldown you’ll have to balance that with the fact you can use Power weapons with it.
so i’d suggest 40seconds is low enough + -8seconds if traited making this 32seconds.
A lot of the cooldowns on Guardian utilities seem a little uncalled for imo. Have you seen hallowed ground and sanctuary?? Other professions get kinda similar skills that are far more readily available.
I’d wager that when they were creating the skills for every class, they did the most balancing around pve. Things like party wide aegis and protection on paper seemed quite op in pve, hence the long cooldowns. No one really complained, or used those skills in pvp, so they kept their long cooldowns even until today. Heck, look at our f3. That didn’t see a cd reduction until within the last year. What was it, 80-90s base cd for a single party wide aegis proc?

If the long cooldown is because we can use it with power weapons, it would be a simple matter of lowering the base healing and increasing the healing coefficient to make it only viable in healing builds.
Also you only have to compare it to Wings of Resolve; which with very minor disadvantages you get twice as strong of a heal on a 30s cooldown, untraited.
30 second merciful intervention untraited would be nice. Though for the healing it does, 25 would be ideal.
I doubt they will do it, so druid can have their superior heals.

It is pretty good idea to focus on Merciful Intervention to make us better healers! Maybe SW bow also?
I think the key to a fun utility class is moderate heals on short cool downs meaning you are playing quite actively, whereas guardian ones are either way too long cooldown (people will die in between) or passive hence tiny and insignificant.
Since people’s defence is that this is a utility could someone do the comparison to Tempests traited shout healing? (I know you pay a trait but realistically you need the line anyway and it is a strong one to pick anyway)
PS. It is not like anyone has ever used Merciful Intervention on an ally for movement so it is not a support skill, it’s pure healing.

This ^.
Allot of the core guardian abilities (as well as some weapon skills and numerous traits) either have some serious issues or are just very meh which is why nobody ever uses them for anything serious given the other options.
Among these are
Signet of Courage
Signet of Mercy
Merciful Intervention
All Spirit Weapons
Sanctuary
Hallowed Ground
Signet of Wrath
(bane signet could almost qualify as well due to the active being so meh)
