I’m looking for a viable AoE build for my Guardian who is about to go zerging and mass AoE tagging mobs for DEs. Any suggestions perhaps? Thanks in advance!

I think your best bet for an AoE build will be using Greatsword. Staff gets a short range CAoE also but doesn’t do nearly as much damage. And Hammer gets decent stationary AoE with Symbol of Protection and his AoE hammer smash.

If you want AoE you will have to make a Ranger or Elementalist.

Just equip a Staff and tag mobs with #1, #2 (don’t use the explosion chain) and #3 when they clump up. Can be used for any build. The point here is to tag mobs for loots/experience since he specifically asks about it. Let the others do the killing.

As said above. Greatsword and Staff combo.

Number 1 on staff when you cant spin to win on GS.

Judge’s Intervention(mobility, AoE Burn), Smite Conditon(Great range AOE mob tagger), and Retreat.(again mobility. Getting from Pent to plix to Tar etc etc.)

Combined with staff 3 for mobility, 20% CD recharge reduction on 2 hand wpn skill and Meditations Heal you. You have the best farming build because you get:

Survivability in full MF Gear
Mobility out the whazoo
Some of the best AOE tagging

for me, i sport hammer and staff and gets all the work done.

hammer #1 and #2 are both area (obviously within melee range) but if enemies are clumped up, expect to see many dmg numbers pop on screen in clumps.

obviously staff #1 is great, i just run around tagging mobs, i never stay stationary. #3 can be useful if you find a bunch of mobs that are rather stationary. i also use it for mobility.

for added utilities, adding onto Xilo’s list, purging flames is pretty good for tagging (all burn, plus condition removal), i like using this when a train of mobs are coming your way, i let a few past me, and then i pop the ring of fire.

usually i run around, trying to tag all mobs, and when i feel i’ve hit most if not all of them 2, 3 times, then i bust out my hammer and start killing with the group nearest to me or who are dying soon.
