Pretty much I came back after a four month break and I was curious to know which would add more DPS. I figured since the rotation starts with whirling wrath that gs would add more “real” DPS but what do I know. Thanks in advance.

I’m confused on exactly what you are asking. You want to know how GS dps compares to sword dps?

pve right? for aoe gs, for single target sword (with trait!). but we’re getting 2nd sigil slot for 2h weapons soon, so id do for gs

As far as I understand fade’s DPS table, that one isn’t even true for most builds. GS is stronger for both single and multitarget in many cases if you don’t use the rotation. But the conclusion is right, upgrade the GS.

GS. Even on a single target it’s not far inferior to sword, but on the other hand, it’s far superior to anything that has more than one target. Sword’s strongest hit in its chain, the third one, isn’t an actual melee cleave, but a piercing projectile. It only hits multiple foe in a very straight and narrow line.
Ascended gear is most useful in fractals, where you have to.. guess what. Cleave a lot of things.

An ascended hammer would be better though. Unless you want your ascended gear for purposes other than fractals.

just wondering, the superior pure GS single target numbers assume that every hit of whirling wrath connects, right?
