Guild Wars 2

Because the Wizard’kitten, Staff and Greatsword on an Asura is an amazing combination, and I’ve already got a Mesmer and a Reaper.

I can’t decide upon whether I want a male or a female, though. I’m going for a wandering mage kind of look, so it’s important to me that the armour and animations flow more towards a caster than a heavily armed juggernaught. The voice is also important! The snarkier the better.

It’s hard to find videos comparing these animations, and so I turn to you in the guardian community.

Do you prefer male or female Asura guardians? What makes you lean towards the one over the other?

I started off with a Male Asuran Guardian and liked him a lot. But I got a total makeover kit and all in all preferred the hair/faces of the female Asura, so I ended up gender swapping :P

As for armor and animations male and female are almost, if not fully, identical. At least I didn’t notice any differences! (Females wear the same outfits as the males for some reason, Charr is the same!)

Ever since I got the wizard hat I’ve been rockin’ the Kaiser weapon skins set with it! See the picture of my rev in (can work on guardian but Aegis gets in the way hehe) this post below if you were fishing for the mage look (sorry it was night at the time… looks a lot more vibrant in sunlight/afternoon haha).

Bit of personal preference – each to their own.

For Asura I’ve made mostly female. They have a lot of faces you can work with to make happy, angry, adorable, interesting. Male Asura on the other hand… couldn’t find anything other than WRINKLY GRANDPA or mouth-falling-down-face which is funny but jeeze.

Unfortunately, as with any race – a lot of the newer faces’s sliders don’t really change much or there’s a lot of clipping, particularly with the eyes + brow so I tend not use them… even though they are more appealing initially.

As for snarky – I think both males & females in general have a lot of dialogue when you cast skills that come off as boisterous, witty… dat attitude for real calm down kid.

Hoboboots has already stated but I’ll reiterate; some Outfits are unisex (Asura + Charr females will share the male attire) which might disappoint you? Their animations should be pretty much identical on the other hand.

I prefer female Asura guardian for reasons stated above.

After some more research, I’ve concluded that female Asura look superior, but male Asura have the superior and snarkier voice actor. Which means I still can’t decide. :x

For anyone who’d care, in the end, the male Asuran voice actor just won out over the female one.

Already planning the level 80 look! Just as soon as the kitten hat returns to the gem store… :P

I dont have screen shots, but i have a male asuran guard. If you have a full face helm (like the Halloween ones), it is almost impossible to tell the difference other than the voice lines.
