Long time Guardian player here. Decided to share a rather effective build I’ve been using.

This build focuses on Mobility and Survivability. It excels at area control and 1 vs 1 fights.

PROS:
-Good in both PvE and PvP environments
-Provides great survivability through many health recovery options and continuous Protection uptime
-100% swiftness uptime + blink teleports makes this a very mobile build
-Hammer and Staff makes for a good area control weapon combo coupled with low cooldowns and high bulk
-Excels at chasing down and punishing single targets
-Good retaliation uptime to mitigate lower base damage
-Helpful to your party. Not a very selfish build

CONS:
-Not as high damaging as some other builds
-Lower health could make taking continuous bursts harder
-Not as party-oriented as shout builds

Method:
As mentioned above, the build is very mobile and bulky. Using “Monk’s Focus” with 2 meditations provides fast and easy recovery, while “Signet of Resolve”, “Hold the Line”, and “Empower” provide extra heals when needed. The “Inspired Virtue” trait coupled with “Renewed Focus” and increased boon duration gives a great defensive boost to the party. Increased boon duration on Protection and Swiftness also allows you to stay quick and durable. You may not deal as much damage as that brute in Berserker gear, but you will win the fight with minimal casualties in style as a true Sentry Guardian.

sounds like a fun build. though you seem to be not as focused down either shouts / meditations or consecrations and use a bit of all of them. do you ever feel you spread the traits a bit thin in any given area?

sounds like you need to be extremely mobile for this build. also, how does it fare in dungeons? : ))

There’s actually no concentrations in this build. The primary focus, is of course, meditations. The one shout is in there to add to the general bulk, and could be substituted if need be by another skill.

In terms of dungeons, I’ve done the whole lot of them using this build. It will keep you alive, but of course its not as helpful as support-focused party builds to your party-mates. The boons that you do provide, however, will last for quite a bit, so there’s at least some longevity support involved.

I used to run something similar to this. Swapping contemplation of purity for hold the line is better for 1v1s. Also I used scepter/focus instead of staff (again, better for 1v1s).
