Berserker Guardian WvW Zerg Build
Stop zerging
Start playing
Lol, I think a lot of people must have had BSOD watching this build survive quite well, though I think that might have more to do with your personal skill. And compote.
Several Concerns:
1.) Drawn out fights. This is true of all offensive builds but obviously more so here; I think if you are in a situation where the kills are more spread out and your zerg has to make several passes to jockey for position or what not before the snowball happens then it could be pretty hazardous. Certainly, in zerg fights where you just plow into the other side, you will do superbly. This means the more organized the enemy is, the harder time you will have.
2.) Sieges. Unfortunately, sieges are a part of zerg life. You can dodge some arrow cart fire definitely, but sometimes there’s just a crap ton of siege that can blast you down if you are not careful. I can see this is t1 and so I imagine the enemy’s ability to pull siege out of nowhere is quite high.
3.) Retributive Armor. You’re picking about 5% extra crit from this, and I don’t think that’s worth it. I tend to think of this trait as something tanky builds pick up because they have crap crit chance, but you’re already zerker. Since you only have absolute resolution as condi removal, I think purity may be better.
4.) I’d take a force sigil over an accuracy, since power scales better. The only crit proc you really have here is vigorous precision, and you have more than enough for that.
Overall, this looks pretty fun for its intent, but the low margin of error and extremely high liabilities makes it very difficult given the way rallying works in wvw. Since a single death can rally many people, even if your extra dps manage to down several more people, it may be a wash in some cases and catastrophic in others. Also factoring the importance of support being major in zerg fights is another issue. You give AOE blinds and some minor cleansing, as one as SiN which isn’t bad but one has to figure out what they lose.
Still, zerker staff damage is highly underestimated and it makes for a good lawnmower. That should be worth it on its own. By nature of being zerker, you may also find some use outside the zerg too.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Uploaded a few more videos i’ve recorded during week 1.
Drawn out fights aren’t usually a problem unless you’re fighting a stun heavy team and dont have stability available, or if you’re getting hit by lag and can’t heal/stability/invuln.
I’ve had problem with tank heavy groups where getting those initial first few kills take a good while, but that hasn’t been a problem during week 1, since everyone is trying to get into WvW and guilds can’t organize as easily.
a few variations i’ve tried this week as well is running sanctuary insead of SY! with ground targeted consecrations to use on stacking enemy zergs or when i need to cut off a choke and I have my wall on CD. Also when I’m having too much problems with conditions, i’ve replaced it with purging flames instead. I’ve had some good results with those changes.
Wow, wow, wow, I don’t even know what to say.
Do you even use your 2nd weapon at all? I watched all 4 videos and have never seen you swap to your other weapon for more than 3 seconds. Not only are you being useless by spamming 1 1 1 and the occasional 4, you are also fighting at 50% of the guardians potential. Was a very boring gameplay to watch, I am sorry.
The build in itself is good, but if you face a decently organized zerg or guild your sustain is quite bad because you won’t be killing any1.

My sustain comes from tagging as many enemies as I can, so I can get credit for as many kills as I can.
I’ll be getting much more credit from tagging up to 5 enemies in a cone, than I would by cleaving 3 in a small area in front of me.
And one of the main reasons I do WvW is for the loot, which is why I rarely touch any BL. I stick to EB for the fights.
