Best Critical Chance % for DPS
Power and crit damage determines that. It also a matter of group composition. Precision alone is a rather weak but there are other stuff crits do for you thru traits and food
You can without a doubt reach >50% crit chance and still not being a glasscanon.
Scroll down on this page and you find how to combine crit and crit damage. Budget wise i think a rule is that you should have as much crit damage as crit, in a solo setup. For example 50% and 50%.

In a organized team crit damage should be about 20% higher with food, 40% and 60% approx. The numbers are just examples to illustrate what i mean.
What is the best Critical Chance % range for a DPS?

What is the best Critical Chance % range for a DPS?
My build is currently 36.95%.
I was thinking of boosting my precision to enable me to get to approx 40-50%. I am affraid this will make me into more of a Glass Cannon DPS.
If you want to boost your crit % a bit without changing gear, just use maintenance oil, precision food and the superior sigil that gives you stacks of precision on some off-weapon you can swap out once you get your stacks. This should boost you crit % by over 20%.
What is the best Critical Chance % range for a DPS?
For DPS best critical chance is 100%.
I have 75% crit chance on my guard unbuffed so I know that much is readily achievable. There’s really no reason to go above 80%, as you’ll be over-buffed while you have fury applied to you.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

I meant that with fury, in a group with 1-2 warriors or just 1 aura sharing elementalist it’s almost perma fury.
Depends on your power and crit. damage.
There is no magic static value for perfect crit. chance. It all depends on all your other stats.
I personally wouldn’t go for anything less than 50% crit chance (this could be with food buffs). Omnomberry pies and ghosts are just so powerful that you really should be critting at least half of the time and using one of those two consumables.

Tanshiniza, u have a very good crit chance and your crit damage is insane! Can you go in a little more detail in your build as in how you got such a high crit chance and crit damage?

There is no “best” number for any given stat. You don’t need “at least” so-and-so much power, or crit chance, or crit damage. People don’t seem to understand this. I see so many posts asking “How do I hit this arbitrary threshold I made up” and every time I just facepalm.
To make a good build, you need to look at your character in terms of marginal advantage, not threshold stats. If you’ve got a choice between 10% crit damage and 10% crit chance, you shouldn’t be trying to hit some arbitrary number, you just go with whatever increases your damage more.
In terms of traits, 10 precision equals 1% crit damage (ou already have 50% crit damage, so you need to add this to the number it shows on your stats page). As a rule of thumb, 10 points of precision will add more damage when your crit chance percentage is LESS THAN HALF of your crit damage percentage. 1% crit damage will add more damage when your crit chance is MORE THAN HALF of your crit damage.

So basically get to 50% crit before you drop a lot of points into crit dmg. I think they also have a table on wiki.guildwars2.com. Look up critical chance, should be at the bottom.
