Best way to level up my guard with my gf
If you plan on PvEing then just get zerk gear all the way (Power Precision Crit Dmg)
When your Lv80 and all your doing is PvEing then stick with zerker gear if you’re gonna WvW then it’s a whole new ball game.
Don’t stack healing. Go for dps ( power/prec/crit dmg ) and-or add some vitality/toughness here and there. You don’t really need more for PvE ( as far as open world goes and you are learning the ropes ). As for Traits I highly recommend going 15 in Radiance first ( you get to spam burning and blind every time you kill something ) which helps your dps, def and is fun imho; THEN 5 in virtues. After that I would go 30 in Valor and 20 in Honor. You will get a very good, balanced build – 0/15/30/20/5. Once you get to know your class better you could try more dps oriented build. However, I’m not saying that build I suggested is crap dps – it is NOT
As for difference between guardian and warrior dps – warrior has more burst type of dmg, so don’t worry too much, you should be doing the same dps as ur girlfriend ( or your other warrior? kinda lost there, nvm. )
If u have any more questions, feel free to mail me in game.

This guy is right. I would like to add, learn to use your blinds, wall of reflection is awesome vs ranged mobs and learn to time your CC like greatsword 5. These things will keep you from taking damage.
Good levelling skills
Wall of Reflection
Hold the Line
Stand your Ground
Signet of Judgement
Most blokes like the Greatsword. I am a bit of a strafer so I used sword/torch primarily. Hammer also works well.
Offhand I highly reccomend Mace/Focus for when you get mobbed. Alot of blokes run staff and empower before every fight.
Gear – toughness and power are your priorities when levelling, though precision is nice too.
Tbh I used alot of condition damage and most mobs would die from burning before Hold the Line ran out.
Anet lied (where’s the Manifesto now?)
zerker, put all your traits in zeal for leveling

I guess, just to clarify…my first character was a warrior, she played a elementalist.
Now I’m playing a guard, she is playing mesmer.
Thanks for the information, it is helpful!
Here are some Guardian DPS builds. Maybe you can use them for ideas.
Hammer
Sword/Focus
Greatsword
A couple tips:
- These builds are designed for dungeons. Since you’re using them for leveling you can take 15 points from virtues and put them in a different trait line.
- Berserker gear (power, precision, critical-damage) might leave you vulnerable while leveling. You can try using Knights (power, precision, toughness) or Valkyrie (power, vitality, critical-damage) instead for more survivability.
- Traits that reduce the cooldown of weapon skills by 20% are strong while leveling.
- Upgrade your gear every five levels.

At lower levels the attribute points you get are often more important than the actual traits.
Spend your point in Zeal, Radiance and Valor to get Power, Precision and crit damage, choose your gear to raise those attributes, too.
At level 40 put 15 points in Radiance and 5 points in Virtues for AoE Blind, Vulnerability, Might and recharge on kill and 5 points in Honor for more dodges; 5 points more in Honer for a faster recharge for “Retreat!” to have almost permanent Swiftness. If you want to do dungeons at that level 5 more points in Virtues for Master of Consecrations could be helpful. The remaining points for Power and Precision again.
Sword/Focus is imo the best weaponset; #2 and #4 inflict AoE Blind, #3 blocks ranged attacks and #5 blocks 3 attacks, #1 is the most damaging auto attack the Guardian has. If your GF doesn’t use Focus use Staff as your second weaponset to be able to give yourselves Swiftness; first run through the symbol/wall, then use “Retreat!”, otherwise you’ll only gain 1 second of Swiftness from the symbol/wall.
