Better Group Healer - Guardian Vs Warrior???
I dont know if I am competent enough to judge but I tried both classes in sPVP.
Warrior excels in direct healing but he lacks defensive boons.
Guardian has IMHO less direct healing but his defensive boons compensate it.
I am actually lvling a guardian and my close friend Warrior as alts and we both have no problems while leveling and in instances we both brings a lot to groups.
Anyway I think that guardian needs better timing and is harder to play but warrior better in solo play and has higher HP pool and also dmg.
But both classes are very powerfull when specced right with good traits (for warrior I prefer shouthealing and with guardian perma regen aura with altruistic healing).
Also for Wv3 warriors has more Oh kitten buttons than guardian and can better run out of zerg.
But maybe I am not right…
i am only proficient in the Guardian class and i feel he’s definitely pretty strong in being supportive, especially front lines WvW. it’s a great class for pushing and many times i’ve been able to help bring people back up to their and/or keep their health up. a lot of our utilities / skills as well as virtues heal, give boons and or provide mitigation in a group setting. i can do okay solo, but my Guardian definitely does best in a group setting.
though i’ve been with many a warrior that have been extremely supportive as well. hopefully more can chime in and give you better perspective.

Much depends what you mean by group healer, if you mean raw healing Guardian in full cleric will heal more with regens and virtues, then you have the staff on a 16s cool down healing for 2.7-3.1k, the staff heal alone almost keeps up or over takes two warrior shouts, if you are giving your passive virtue heal too group on top of that healing around 180-220 per second is 5400-6600 over 30 seconds.
for raw healing compare to warriors guardian out does them.
Anyhow, using Mace&Focus + Staff is strong support, can be in melee can be at range, if you need extreme range switch mace for scepter and your good to go, but will lose some heavy regeneration.

Build above is what I run, I tend to be at 1.6k Healing power and have no issue supporting groups, just be aware that your damage will be low and in groups that need little to no support you can be a waste of space, also keep in mind that some players have no clue how to play with support classes and you end up chasing them around a lot of the time saving them.

If I were you I’d definitely consider rolling with Warrior. Healing shouts on pretty low cooldowns, improved rezzing speeds (in the same trait line as heal shouts, I believe), and the ability to block all attacks for 4-5 seconds with shield will provide a very strong bolster to the front lines. Battle standard also helps with rezzing. Huge HP pools, and good mobility with sword/warhorn (leap+swiftness).
Guards can provide SOME healing, but many overvalue them. Virtue “heals” it’s actually one heal, and on a decently hefty CD 60sec untraited. Guards are more of a front to mid-line support, focused on application of boons and area denial. Also, if you do WvW with a guardian, Wall of reflection is a MUST.

Don’t know much about guardian but here is about warrior :
Banner warrior can give you full time regeneration without sacrificing any of his dps.
Shout warrior can burst heal for about a total 5k-6k in less than a second and can get rid of condition very fast or even convert conditions to boons with warhorn.
advice: don’t do 6 identical runes. just do 5 minus the headpiece and a different + healing rune on the headpiece to get the +25 healing power.
i do usually 1 rune of the flock and 5 rune of the grove. and underwater aqua breather has 1 rune of the flock too. so its 25+50+90+25 additional healing power.
