Brainstorming: future Guardian weapon combinations
i would like to see them instead add new skills for weapons we already have that we could change out in spesific slots. Like keep 1 the same no mater what, but give us 2 options on 2-5 so we can customize weapons a little more.
to explain, exp: Sword
slot 1 : 3 skill chain
Slot 2: Pick – Flashing blade -or- new ranged pull?
slot 3: Pick – Zealots Defence – or – Buff spell
and so on for the off hand,
it would ad a new level of depth and allow customization without allowing people to have a “bad build” like they were said they were trying to avoid from 1

Cantha Expansion
Katana – 2H Sword based on quick, single target strikes.
1 – Sword swipe, 1 again – Sword swipe, 1 again – Sword swipe with 2s of quickness. Makes it like 2H Greatsword in that you get it for a short duration that only can keep up by spamming 1.
2 – Sheath weapon, gain swiftness and protection. While this ability is up, you can’t attack unless you press 2 again. Pressing 2 does an Iai strike where you deal 100% critical chance attack on an enemy, and damage is double your crit% damage. It’s one hit, so make it count!
3 – Bladeborn Defense – Blocking manuever, reflect projectiles while slashing the air repeatedly (melee version of Sword 3)
4 – Redheat Slash – charged ability. longer you hold down the charge, the longer the attack burns the enemy, increases in damage too. great for when someone is immobilized.
5 – Dashing Burn – Tap it once, teleport to the target and burn them, tap it again, dash to the target and burn them again. Makes for a great double catch if someone gets away from you the first time.
How about?
Javelin- A one handed medium ranged weapon usable by both the Guardian and the Warrior. (Inspired of course by the GW 1 paragon)
The guardian skills would be.
1. Holy Spear- (Auto Attack) Throw a spear at medium range Dealing extra damage for each boon currently affecting you.
2. Mighty Throw- Send a powerful spear throw at you opponent knocking them back and crippling them.
3. Shinning Spear- Summon a bright light with your spear blinding foes and removing 1 condition from each ally in range.
Longbow.
Concept: Modest medium range damage coupled with area support by way of robust Combo Fields.
Slot 1: Focused Shot
Shoot an arrow at your opponent. This arrow travels faster for every boon you have.
Range: 900
Combo Finisher: Projectile (20% Chance)
Slot 2: Cascade Shot
Fire an arrow that splits into multiple arrows upon impact.
Range: 900
Maximum Ricochet: 2
Recharge: 8s
Slot 3: Symbol of Inspiration
Shoot an arrow that creates a symbol at the target location, dealing damage to enemies and granting Vigor to allies.
Range: 900
Radius: 120
Combo Field: Light
Recharge: 12s
Slot 4: Arrow of Judgement
Shoot an arrow that immobilizes the target. Nearby allies gain swiftness.
Range: 900
Combo Finisher: Projectile
Recharge: 25s
Slot 5: Consecrated Arrow
Shoot an arrow that creates a ring of fire upon impact, burning enemies and granting Fury to allies.
Range: 900
Radius: 160
Combo Field: Fire
Recharge: 30s
I want to see a Glaive, Halberd or the like. Traditionally carried by guards all over it’s kind of like the first thing I think of when I play word association with the term Guardian. They’re still ceremonial for the Swiss Guard and I believe the guards at the Tower of London used to carry them as well when I was there. It’s just an iconic piece of weapon for anyone guarding anything.
I for one would love to see a melee spear or halberd added.
Frankly they could just copy paste a few of the underwater spears abilities onto it as that is among the best weapons in game for guardians.
As for other choices, I would also love to see warhorns added as an option.
Their first ability could add 10s of swiftness & 10s of fury on a 30 second cool down.
The second ability could remove up to 3 conditions on the guardian and nearby allies then give 1 stack of might per condition removed lasting 10 seconds on a 30 second cool down.

I fail to understand why the devs decided that giving a heavily armoed melee brute a puny wizard wand and a staff is better than let’s say a pistol/shield, some sort of bow/gun. Why the javelin works underwater only is also beyond my comprehension.
I totally dislike the paladin component of the guardian. It’s just so incredibly dull and. cliche. You gave him some manly armor, manly melee attacks and unfortunately some not so manly ultimates (if you want to give him books, then let him smack some faces with them, at least). Give him at keast some manly weapons, already and leave the scepters and staffs for the skirt wearing casters!
Halberd
1) Slash – Auto attack combo that hits multiple foes
2) Hail of Blades – repeated strikes of multiple foes in a foward arc (8x) the guardian can move while this attack is channeled.
3) Strikethrough – overhead strike with a small cooldown that does high damage and knocks the enemy down.
4) No Retreat – Applies AOE Root and Burn
5) For Tyria – Leap into the air crashing down on a target location creating a large symbol that damages, cripples and causes weakness

Warhorn:
4) Righteous Judgement: Judge your foe with holy words to cause vulnerability 5 stacks, weakness and cripple for 10 seconds. 30s cooldown. Does some damage too. 900 range.
5) Inspire Vengeance: Buff your allies and self with Protection , Might and Fury. Number of stacks of might varies with your health. Full health= 2 stacks. 100-50%= 4 stacks, under 50-25%= 6 stacks and under 25%=8 stacks. Lasts for 10s.
40s cooldown, 600 range, maximum 5 people.
Scythe. Sort of like the Dervish from GW1. Not sure on abilities though.
Give Guardians pistol+shield!
I’d really like to see shortspears, and mostly would like to see javelins and longbows as martial mid/long range options. All I can say is the Longbow should probably have some sort of raining condition cleanse as the 4 or 5 skill so that it echoes the Bow of Truth, like the other Spirit Weapons echo the ability of the real weapons.
And as an aside, I’d really like it if Flashing Blade and Smite were changed to Symbols, so that our multi-line symbol traits can interact with all of our weapon loadouts, just like how mesmers are given a clone and/or phantasm skill on every two-hand and main-hand weapon. Shouldn’t be that hard to change, either.
Flashing Blade: Teleport to your target and place a Symbol of Zealotry on the ground, blinding foes and granting a boon to allies (Fury?). Make it only pulse once untraited, or twice with the symbol duration trait.
Symbol of Smiting: Places a Symbol on the ground that strikes foes repeatedly and grants Might to allies.
