Hi Guys,
I’m putting together a build to take my Guardian through world completion and Jumping Puzzles. Wanted to get some of your thoughts and opinions. There’s probably some decisions I’ve made that will seem strange or odd, so l’ll try and explain.

The build at the moment:

Armor: Beserker w/ Snowfall runes (falling damage reduction)
Weapons: Beserker – Sword/Torch + Mace/Focus w/ Speed + Stamina sigils
Trinkets: Beserker

Traits:
Zeal: 2III – Protectors Impact (fall damage)
Radiance: 6VI -Blind Exposure, X – Powerful Blades, XI – Right-Hand Strength
Valor: 4II – Defender’s Flame, VII Mace of Justice
Honor: 2II – Superior Aria
Virtues: 0

Skills:
Signet of Resolve
Retreat
Purging Flames
Stand Your Ground
Renewed Focus

Explanation:
I wanted to craft a build that was reasonably cheap, provided some fun active mob engages for heart completion, and provided good mobility.
I like the speed of the sword/mace compared to the slower 2H weapons, so have tried to build around that. Fall damage reduction is to assist with JP’s and again for fun running around the world. Speed/Stamina sigils are to provide mobility both in and after combat.
I’ve tried to pick traits/skills that play around use of Burning, Aegis and Condi Cleanse, as to me they reflect the core of the Guardian concept, and will be using the map completion time to practice using Aegis/Blind/Retaliation more strategically.

Bearing I mind this in no way a Meta build, are there ways I could improve the synergy/fun of the build in terms of mobility, clearing mobs, and survive-ability through active defense?

I would run this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQNAsfRlsApcoFCxUI8DRR8QlVKa9H0CbQlBQDg1TA-TVxMwApU+pUfAg9HMr+DOlgAA-w

Retreat+Centaur rune+Shout CDR will give you 28,5s Swiftness on a 32s CD

I know you prefer the one handers, but I think Mace is slower then GS. You can just start with WW+symbol+BB then swap to sword for AA’s(although most stuff will be dead after the WW). The leap will help you with your mobility

If you really want the fall dmg reduction, swap II to III in Zeal.

If you have trouble with a mob, swap Torch to Focus.

Take 2 points out of Zeal and put them into Virtues if you need/want condi cleanse.

Hello darkness, my old friend.

if I wwant the best mobility possible its

utilites:
Litany of wrath, meditiation reduction, Judge and Merciful Intervention, Retreat
(there are tons of players or npcs that give port targets for MI)

Traits
CD reduction on GS and shouts Superior Aria, CD reduction on medis
(the GS leap covers hugh ground overtime, reduction gives another leap/min)

Runes
Centaur

for damage… its open world pve

you can dwonsize from this to oyur liking.
The fall damage reduction is a a choice but it does not make much sense to me. if you fall you most likely will port anway because walking back to the start takes too long. and wp is more effecient. so being dead does not make so much of a difference.

if you really want the reduction I woukd suggest sigil of speed and food that gives swiftness on kill. you can ditch retreat with that too since you will most likely have 2 mins swiftness on you the whole time.

Berserker (faster heart completion) with Traveler Runes (perma speed boost) is what I used. GS (Leap of Faith and dps) and Sword/Focus for teleport (Flashing Blade). That armor can be used later for WvW roaming. If you don’t want to invest in those runes you can run with a Staff and swap to sword when completing events and hearts

Thanks for the tips, have gone with a Sword/Focus + GS combo with Speed sigils for the swiftness, I find it keeps me engaged as I run around the maps, picking off odd mobs along the way to maintain swiftness. Currently using mischief for the other sigil, which gives extra blind, but might swap these out for something else.

Also went with the snowfall runes for fall damage reduction, so much fun being able to jump almost anywhere

Still working on traits + skills,.

Give Traveler a shot if you have some spare gold.

For traits you can go 2/5/0/2/5 with Protector’s Impact in Zeal for falling damage (no need for runes). In Radiance go Blind Exposure for stacking might and vulnerability and killing fast trash that is what you’ll find the most in open world, Powerful Blades for Sword and Spear damage (underwater areas). In Honor pick Superior Aria for Retreat! Every 32 seconds (have in mind it will last longer with Traveler runes-boon duration bonus). Finally for Virtues go with Master of Consecrations (use PF for condi cleanse) and Indomitable Courage for stability when you get knockbacks (No need for Absolute Resolution in open world). For the remaining Skill go Bane Signet or Judge’s Interventio for another teleport.

For food Omnomberry Cream for Magic find and boon duration, Sharpening Stone for Damage. Good thing with this setup is that it can be used for WvW areas (change traits for Meditation Guardian Roaming Build).

for pve roaming, Id go with shouts and teleports. retreat, save yourselves, and judges intervention. sword/focus for teleport/block. greatsword for hearts and travel between nearby points, swap out staff for long runs between points. use food that boosts boon duration to overlap swiftness.

traits? anything that procs on blind is good. anything that adds additional condition removal is good. you could go condi damage in pve and even be fine. efficiency is key and mobility is paramount when making exploring quick.
