Build for a WvW Sword/Shield Guardian
SIC – Isle of Janthir
Hey folks, I wonder if there is a good way to build my guardian for WvW with a sword/shield combo.
My Hammer/Staff with PVT gear is very effective but I’m kind of bored of it.
plus, I really like the way Sword/Shield looks like! I would prefer to be strong in 1v1 rather than me useful in Zergs if that could help,
Thanks!
I run a sword+shield/hammer meditation build that seems to be fun so far. I have lots of closing speed with sword #2 and insta-cast Judge’s intervention and lots of control with the hammer. I can catch dudes, attack, re-catch, lock down then kill pretty effectively. Its probably not put together the best but it is 10, 0, 30, 30, 0.

Running a 0/30/30/5/5 build with Meditations. Pretty glassy but great fun and surprisingly high damage output. Sword/Shield, Hammer Shelter, Judges Intervention, Smite condition, Contemplation, Renewed Focus
Radiance: VI, X, XI
Valor: I, X, XII
I use mostly berserker gear with some knights and other pieces.
Power: 1903

Toughness: 1456

Variant for slightly more utility at the cost of damage are
0/5/30/15/20
with Indomitable Courage for stability access, and heal dodge
I’ve had good success with a GS/Sword+shield mobility-focused build recently for solo roaming and small grouping. With GS and sword, you have access to 2 weapon-based movement skills, which really boosts your ability to stay on target. Throw in 80%+ swiftness uptime from retreat and save yourselves and two superior sigils of hydromancy and you can keep enemies in melee range pretty well.

Yep, I usually run GS + sword/shield or GS + sword/focus. You end up with lots of blinds, teles/gap closers, etc.
Run it with a mix of Knights and Berserker(or Knights and some form of healing power) and you’ve got yourself a good 1v1/havoc spec.
I have been playing around with a 1hand/ hammer build using using % crit chance and crit damage with life steal.
