Hey all,

I am currently playing an ele bunker for tourneys and I am usually holding mid. I want to learn more about the guardian bunker builds, as mid on Clock tower can be a PITA for me on such a small point with skills that send me all over the place, also the fact that usually my opponent is a guardian.

Can anyone recommend a good guardian tourney bunker build?

Do guardians usually use altruistic healing or meditation healing for bunkering? And what utilities (Besides hallowed ground or Stand your ground).

I should mention I have played a guardian for about 2 weeks but never bunker style so I have a little knowledge about the class.

I use Hammer and Mace/Shield… this build with the signet of justice is very very very tough to kill. Plus with hammer i can spam AOE retaliation, and when i pop hallowed ground i can get 2 aoe mights out of it before it fades.

I would highly recommend this spec for someone wanting to bunker the hell out of clock tower.

More on hammer:
Using skill #4 (knockback)
Followed by #3 (immobilize)
Followed by #5 (bubble)
you can really keep someone off the point for a loooooong time.

Also – try to switch weaps as much as possible – cause leeching gives 1000 health on first hit

AND make sure to switch to made/shield when killing someone – you get a TON of health on kills with the sigil i have on my mace…

one last thing – hallowed ground is perfect for the final blow on a downed enemy – gives stability for a crazy long time.

Also – this spec is very heavily geared towards using symbols… they are larger, they heal you, and they last longer… make sure you make good use of these symbols (ie staying in them, and using #2 with hammer = blast finisher)

Appriciate the reply alot Nemosis, ill give it a try, I like the original poster, namely play/played an ele bunker, and it seems lately that the people im trying to run with would prefer that i am a guardian bunker, as we almost always have at least 1 other ele, so it makes sense i play the best/better bunker. I’ll give your build a few weeks of practice on my end and see where i’m at. Anymore tips/comments about being a successful bunker, i welcome with open arms!

I hate to nit pick Nemosis’ build but it has few glaring flaws that I think people should know about. One, it has nothing for condition removal. Purity and Signet alone will not cut it, any decent Necro or Engi will ruin your day so fast if you do not run with a single on demand cleanse.

Secondly, Stand Your Ground > Hallowed Ground. Yes hallowed ground synergizes better with his trait selection and lasts longer, but the cool down on it is also mighty long. The shout allows you to use it more frequently, this is important as the Guardian in tPvP is one of the most used classes in securing stomps and resses. You also lack a single stun break meaning you’re prey to burst combos.

These are some of the Guardian builds ran by top teams in tPvP right now. Doesn’t mean they’re the best builds out there, but all of them are really well thought out and solid. Study them and see what you can take and learn from them.

Keep in mind different setups call for different strategies and form different synergies. In the end you need to find something that works for your playstyle and performs well with your group make up.

I mean, there are holes in every spec… it really just depends on your play style ( as lumines says ) try out a few builds and pick and choose whatever gives you the best results.

I personally found my spec to be the best for me ( http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-9s-Bx;0RF-20P3ZF-90;9;6JTJ;448-26915-X;09X;1OZG5OZG56gV ) – its more heavily reliant on symbols / consecrations than the builds listed above. Also i REALLLLLLY love hammer – which is missing from lumines suggested specs.

If you wanted to grab some shouts in your build i would suggest the TEAM PZ mace/shield & staff (i just really hate staff – i use it ONLY for the speed buffs as im running to mid node at the start of a match) – i usually dont have to move once im there.

Also it seems like a waste to use shouts without the 20% reduction in cooldown, which you will have to sacrifice some if not all of the symbol enhancing traits to get. (IMO – you need them all – which is the reason i don’t use shouts)

my build really synergizes well with Hammer (by far my favorite guard weapon), & Mace/shield. Both of these weapon combos have symbols that are up a LOT.

PS – i do very well vs condition dmg… retaliation (and if others are around – ae retaliation) eats them alive (especially necro!). This only works when you use hammer to spam effectively.
