So I was playing around in WVW on my guardian, and decided I wanted to play a condition build for the “lolz”.

My initial thought is to stick with Scepter and Torch, and spamming the 4 skill as much as possible for the 20k burn, and swapping to Mace+Focuse as often as possible to inflict constant burn with the blocks while kiting near symbols.

I was also thinking of interchanging Purging Flames with Aegis depending on the situations for that extra Aegis to inflict burning.

Now I haven’t exactly tried it out yet, but this was the direction I wanted to go, but I wanted as much burn damage as possible. So I’m curious as to what people think. Viable, almost, or no?

Also a quick question, is it better that conditions last shorter, and do more damage, or if they last longer? I would think that maybe that 20k burn would be more useful if it all happened within 3 seconds as opposed to 6 seconds, but that’s what I don’t understand.

Perfect Inscriptions is terrible, as is Signet of Wrath. I’d replace that ASAP.

Keep Purging Flames, it’s excellent condi removal.

Consider bringing additional conditions through Sigils. Geomancy would be a good one to put on both of your sets rather than more duration.

I also question your rune choices. You would be better served, I think, by getting a set that gives Poison on hit, or perhaps taking 4 Perplexity and then getting some jewels for the last two. With that much condition damage Perplexity would hit pretty hard.

Personally I think you can better add the burning in other builds. Not focussing on the burning itself. This is because burning is the only damaging condition guardians do. One condition removal and your time stacked burn disappeared. Also it does do nice damage, but it doesn’t stack in intensity. So your damage doesn’t get bigger. This means you do not have any bursts of some kind to bring some1 down much faster.

However I like you tried it and I personally am going to investigate this more myself in WvW.

Don’t forget, the damage over time part of greatsword’s #5 scales with condition damage very well. Just don’t use the pull if you want the damage.

I would also suggest sigil of geomancy for three nice stacks of aoe bleed.

On my condition guardian, I sometimes get up to 25 seconds of burning on a single target. Duration is not a problem.
