A Guardian burst build. (<-Video Guide)

Hey guys! This week on my guide videos, I unveil a very cool burst build that everyone seems to be ignoring or just not giving a care about.

The good kind. That’s a very ingenious use of what most consider an extremely lackluster ability.

Bad in my book. It would be cool in any other MMO, but in this game abilities compete with each other and blowing a valuable skill slot for an unreliable trick like that isn’t a good idea.

Bad in my book. It would be cool in any other MMO, but in this game abilities compete with each other and blowing a valuable skill slot for an unreliable trick like that isn’t a good idea.

It’s not just there for that use only. Should there not be any allies around you the bird acts as an additional ally allowing you to heal for more with Mi. Should it die before you can use the skill on it, you can still use Mi on yourself to get a comparable heal to using Shelter.

The little trick is just something you can do should you require it. A little SUPRISE SUCKA! for your enemy.

I tried every single build you show here, in a normal match I notice minor differences from traditional burst build, guardian is my main and I am pretty effective at it, plus I notice the insane burst your build can offer, best fight start ever, but after dat you have nothing.. no gap closer, no soft cc, just 1 slow blind, and here come my final test..
I moved to a pvp arena, and there I easily felt what this build lack.. if your enemy don’t see you come are pretty kittened, but against someone aware of you is another story.. I still prefer GS-s/f but thanks for your share!

ps: I hope you can understand what I wrote.. I truly need some english lessons :P

Yea, that’s the difference and the downside to it. But the build is intentionally different because it’s meant to fulfill a different role compared to that of the GS.

You can win those sustained damage fights though by doing mini bursts. For example, performing half of your burst with VoJ, Symbol of Faith and the thrown Zealot’s Flame. Or making people eat a protectors strike.

I have different opinion.. in this day, with spec like d/d fire elementalist, burst mesmer, trap/taunt ranger, rampage warrior and burn guardian, you can’t just “mini” burst someone.. you go hard or go home.. many build can easily melt a 2k armor 17k health guardian.
Btw I really like the idea behind this build, I love to nuke people, so I changed a couple of things to improve it for my playstyle.. for example I changed the zeal line for virtue (condi cleanse and stability) and even w/o vulnerability stacks I don’t see any big dps loss in the combat chat.. plus the change I made from inner fire to right hand strenght (meditation already give me fury) gave me an increase on crit

I’ve gone that route as well (as you may have seen from the video) but at times it feels like I’m not pumping out enough damage. That spec is more survivable though.

With regards to going all in, I think you have to pick and choose when to do that or else you’ll find yourself in situations where you’ve burnt everything and your target can go full ham on you.

You can always try Unscathed Contender, I know it works just with aegis but it’s awesome for popping out some insane burst at the beginning.. btw you are right, there is a dps loss :/

Ah you noticed it too. I have tried Unscathed Contender. It works but not the best choice if you want to keep constant dps.
