Guys,

Anyone played with the numbers yet? How it would be to have a full or partial celestial set for a Guardian – a bit of support a good amount of damage… thoughts?

They’re good for an all-around build, but you lack enough power to be very offensive. They can be used to supplement a balanced build, but save about half your stat points to bulk up key stats like power, precision, toughness. Though with 30 in valor, you rarely need extra toughness.

Well this link has the resulting stats from only celestial gear (kind of backpiece, doesn’t has any special build in it, mace and shield are just to pick a set of weapons):

As you can see it provides you with many decent stats, +70% critical damage, 2.7k armor, 16k health, 2.4k power, 28% critical chance, 500 condition damage and 500 healing power.

It’s just as with going full celestial with any profession, you’re a jack of all trades but a master of none. You may be losing some extra damage and could be getting some stats that might not suit your play style.

From here on it depends, you can bolster your damage with traits/sigils/consumables and then pick the set of skills that you prefer to use. It seems to be a solid option , just for the lulz here’s a comparison of a full celestial build against the one I like to use:

Thanks for your thoughts – your links don’t seem to work though. It will take some time (if ever) when I try this out, but I had this impression too that it’s quite OK all around builds I can put together for my guardian with this.

You shouldn’t be running full celestial builds. The most I’d recommend is full celestial accessories, and then use your armor to flesh out your stats to better suit your build. Exotic armor is cheap; there’s really no reason to use only one armor set for every facet of the game.

I’m really enjoying the Celestial armor I’m making. It’s pretty much the best ratio of defensive stat points per offensive stat points you can get. But I’d never run Celestial everything, because the main drawback is that it has terribly low power.

Celestial works quite well if you account for the lack of power by getting + power elsewhere (runes, food, might etc.) It is best if you have a build that makes fairly good use of healing power and condi damage. If you don’t have that, I wouldn’t use more than a couple pieces at the most. My build includes heal rolls and permeating wrath so I make good use of healing and decent use of condi(for a guardian…). I have full accessories and chest+helm so far and I’ll probably not add much more since the margins are getting pretty slim. I would’t go for celestial legs or weapons since the stat ratios on them aren’t quite as good.
