It feels awful to have to stand and charge up my swiftness while my friends can zip along the map with their streamlined mechanics.
Not only that, the boon duration is so low, that increase % of boon duration on it is undrewhelming unless you go 100%
Arenanet, you turned a slow class into a frustratingly slow class, i feel like i am waiting for a bus in this symbol. Decided to retire my guardian due to lack of proper movement options compared to other classes. I cannot support things i cannot catch up with.

I see it other way. Not when I’m running across map with guild I have reason to throw it.

Zergs already had perma swiftness. It is worthless help to zerg and huge nerf for individuals and small parties.
I dont get it. There is so many talking about how to prevent zerg play but they add nerf/buff that is supposed to help it…I am not agains or for zerg it is just irrational.

I’m on the Guardian forum expressly to say, WTH???? SoS is mostly worthless now as a speed buff. Might as well remove it and give us a good offensive skill or something added to the field.
As a full height Norn, I have to have perma swiftness or the game becomes near unplayable. It’s just a slug on so many levels without at least a 25% speed increase.
This is a really dumb change. I’d rather have the old version back plz.
I really believed that they will reconsider the change in SoS after all the feedback we gave them.

I agree with OP. If it’s not broken, don’t ‘fix’ it. This change is irritating and pointless. Very counter-intuitive.
I see this as a negative quality of life change for guardians. I come from the perspective of wvw. In zergs, it makes no difference whatsoever, since you already had perma-swiftness from other classes. However, for roaming or playing in small groups, this change is detrimental.
It is unreasonable to expect someone to stand still for four seconds out of every 20, or to retrait, or to permanently maintain certain utilities, or to swap out runes, or to always run with a swiftness-granting buddy, just to have reasonable moving ability in the field. Any system where you have to repeatedly and predictably stop to go becomes useless in wvw, which leaves us running mostly -without- any swiftness buff.
Please consider a slight tweak…
if (swiftness < 8s)
{swiftness = 8s}
else
{swiftness += 4s}
… or simply decouple swiftness from the skill, rename it, and give us another option for a speed boost.
I did find one thing that became better with the change to Symbol of Swiftness;
Dolyak escorting.
It is now a lot easier to stack up numerous seconds of Swiftness on a dolyak, to around a minute. (At least that’s when I stop since they’ll generally take around that long to finish getting anywhere.) Of course, the only reason this works is because dolyaks are so much slower than even a walking player, in the first place.
Otherwise, this is a terrible disservice to the class. This has essentially determined that I choose from one of two sets of superior runes for WvW; Speed or Traveler’s.
So, congratulations, fellow Guardians! We’re the best shepherds, now! >_<
