Changes I would like to see for the Guardian
Oh one more to add, I think that the focus ability “Shield of wrath” Doesnt last long enough on a character, It only lasts 3 seconds and I think it should last about eight, Its practically gone the moment you hit the button

Duration is 4 seconds and it’s fine.
The sword ability “Flashing blade” only teleports you when a target is selected, I think it should always teleport you regardless of if you have a target or not, it wouldnt be a massive change because if you want to teleport all you have to do is select a target and use the ability, so why not let us teleport without requiring a target?
I guess it could be nice, but then they’d need to change it for other classes. I forgot what weapon it is, but mesmer has a skill that summon a clone at the target then can switch place with it to be near the target.
the focus shield is more of a DPS abillity than an actual protection. Seriously that explosion hits like a TRUCK! the trick is to put up the shield and not have it break so it can explode but it also servers as a secondary life saver

The biggest problem I have is that the staff skill that creates the impassable wall (1) takes too long to cast, which wouldn’t be a problem, except for problem 2 which is (2) you can’t cast while moving. But, because of both of these facts it creates another problem (3) for the cast time and lack of mobility the wall lasts too briefly.
Seeing as literally the only purpose of the skill is to control movement of enemies, it is pretty useless now. I mean, if you have a really narrow opening and you have enough time to cast it off without some enemy getting past the choke point, then I guess it can be useful occasionally.
But for the most part areas are too wide to actually use it as an effective means of traffic control.
And since you can’t cast it while moving, you can’t use it as an escape skill.
And since it takes so long to cast, it’s not very useful as a momentary distraction because, for the time taken to cast you could do something more useful, like deal damage or heal, which outweighs a short, brief wall.
So what I would want (if it’s not already very clear) is:
- Shorter cast time
- Longer duration
- Ability to cast while moving
Even if this meant that the skill had to have a longer recharge time to balance it out I wouldn’t mind. Because, as of now, I never use that skill in PvE and only occasionally use it in PvP.

4 skill on the torch needs a longer duration
we need a cripple of some sort
and yes i do agree that the 3rd hammer move takes WAY too long.
I know i made a thread about it, but zealous blade needs to heal more than 25/tick

I’d be happy if they redid how Burning works. Since it’s not a stackable buff it is constantly overwritten by other guardians creating a dps loss. While our conditions don’t typically last long to begin with, it’d be nice of making a Burning build wasn’t a gimmick build but instead a viable alternative to damage.
Problem with burning is that any changes to it would also affect Engineers and Elementalists…which means you’d then have to balance their abilities as well. So it’s either that or turn the Guardian burning into something else entirely, which probably isn’t something the devs are too keen on doing atm. They could, however, give us some more trait-based condition damage, or maybe a grandmaster trait to double all condition damage. Still, I consider burning more of a support boon for the rest of my group, covering up other conditions and letting me deal more damage to the affected target. So, given the innate problems with burning, I’d rather it stay as a support mechanism rather than morphed into some unholy aura of wtfbbqpwnage. =p
I would like a secondary skill to Mace 3 (Protector’s Strike). Something similar to Mesmer’s Scepter 2. I just hate it when I put up Protector’s Strike and no one attacks me, I’m basically stuck for 5s. Or I can waste a dodge. I want to be able to turn it off, preferably for some different effect. Maybe move the Protection buff there.
All spirit weapons need to scale with gear, right now no matter your gear you get the exact same dps output from them. Failzor
Personally I’d like Guardian to be a little more “tanky” and a little less “what do I actually do with this class?” I find myself not playing GW2 because as a tank player in EVERY mmo I’ve ever played, I can’t find a tank class. Both Guardian and Warrior leave me quite disappointed in that respect.
In order of importance (from most to least):
-Reduce cast time on Hammer chain finisher
-Make Hammer 2nd skill usable while moving
-Reduce cooldown on Shield Skills
-Give us a reason to detonate the Staff’s Orb of Light
-Increase Scepter’s autoattack projectile speed
-Give us a reason to not throw the Torch’s Fire (4th spell)
-Make the Torch’s 4th spell proc Inner Fire (“When you are set on Fire, you gain fury”), only makes sense right? This is a minor complaint of mine of course
