Yup I have to agree.
If the Torch received double the hit rate on Torch#5 it would see some more usages in pvp. It’s not even a solid pick for pve burn builds and that’s saying something.
I never liked how the cleanse effect worked but considering the self cleanses most classes have now, improving it wouldn’t make a huge difference.

It’s a crappy version of engs elixir kit 3# skill pretty much. Iv’e personally only ever found a use for this in Mai trin to go overboard with condi cleanse not that it’s even needed considering we have light field spam. The other only nice thing about this skill is that it looks amazing animation wise.
Some ideas for fixes is keep the condi cleanse it does now but add burning to each tick and slighty increase the channel time. Or it could remove boons when traited in the radiance trait line for each tick.

It should still remove conditions on allies. I wouldn’t want it to cause more burning, but instead, cause instant damage on burning foes or remove burning on foes to cause large burst damage.
Its a really good skill for what it was designed for. Those situations just don’t come up as often as they might need to. The channel feels very nice with quickness, but not everyone is running FmW, Sigil of Rage, or Sigil of Celerity in every gamemode.
I’d decrease the channel time by 1-1.25s and have the skill remove 3 conditions from yourself and allies affected. This should both increase dps and make it more utilitarian in multiple situations.
I think it’d be fine with just a range increase, target limit increase, and maybe a damage boost. Having to stand right next to allies to cleanse them isn’t very practical, and ironically results in the user being bombarded with conditions as well. Other than that I think the functionality is fine. I wouldn’t want it to lose supportive power for self-cleansing or anything like that.
OP says that guard already has plenty of group cleanses but this skill isn’t even good at that.
One simple change would be to give it the deflecting shot treatment and make it targetable with a much longer range.

The comunity reached the conclusion that to improve 5 its concept had to change.
You would no longer clear condis on allies but instead you’d clear BOONS from enemies thus keeping the concept of cleansing flame and granting torch more grace.

If it’s just 1 or 2 boon removal that wouldn’t be much of a change. If it’s too much well, it’ll kinda go against Guardian concept and will start entering the Mesmer realm.
I’m curious if a healing aspect should occur because at the same time, I don’t want our Torch to compete against Warrior’s – only want it to be different. Maybe a self heal for every condi cleansed. This way the Torch can fit Bunker, Condi or Dps builds. Torch dmges still don’t scale too well on power so that’ll probably need a slight buff (imo).

I had also considered a heal per condi removed, or a 10% damage against burning foes a la Engi FT. The power scaling isn’t horrible, but its clear damage isn’kittens primary use. Anything that takes advantage of proccing Justice will be something torch is interested in (especially with Permeating Wrath). A secondary effect that triggers on hitting a burned foe is probably one of the better things to add onto Cleansing Flame. Increasing all burns by X seconds (although another thing borrowed from Engi FT) might also be interesting.
