Guild Wars 2

As a typical zerker guard with Sw/F and GS, I want to know what the optimal way to take down the gate controller is. I know guardians aren’t usually the ones to do it, but I usually pug my dungeons and sometimes the job is left for me to do.

At the moment, I change two of my utilities to Bane Signet (passive 10% more power) and Stand Your Ground. Not sure what to use for a third utility; it needs to be something with a low cooldown that can be swapped in time for the final boss, or something that is actually useful for the final boss, since I don’t want to be stuck with a useless utility when fighting it.

When the wall opens, I pop SYG and #5 on focus, swap to GS, leap in with #3, use #2 and #4 (by this time focus #5 should have exploded), swap to sword, use #4, and then autoattack for the rest. It seems pretty slow though. Another problem is that the flamethrower dude often forces me to interrupt my rotation due to its ridiculous multi-hitting burning attack that usually kills me if I don’t pop Shelter or Renewed Focus, slowing me down even more.

Any tips?

Don’t forget unscathed contender and pre stack might ( lazy way is staff 4). Depending on your race you can use a summon elite like hounds of balthazar. Keep in mind it’s not your job to do that. Use save yourselves instead of syg for the extra %damage when going 4/5/0/0/5.

Gate controller is awfully easy, start spamming your attacks, when you aggro the charr use greatsword #5 on it, wait until he’s about to attack you and then use the #5 skill again, that will make him charge the attack again and you can destroy the controller in time.

Easy peasy.

CCing him is a good choice, as the post above me said. Use GS 5, if thats not enough start the fight with Hammer of Wisdom summoned. The mob should focus on it instead and you can CC the mob without interrupting your attacks. Alternatively, just cast Bane Signet on the mob as you enter to buy some time or wear a weapon that has the Sigil of Rage (quickness on crit which you’ll proc when cleaving the mob and object) just for that event for quick burst. You can also get a mace – the damage is very close with sword but a quick rotation with mace and GS would provide more damage than with sword due to mace symbol.
