What are your opinions on Communal Defenses?
Is it worth taking over Altruistic healing?
How does it work exactly? Does it proc every time you block in general?
Does it work with aegis or only with skills like focus 5? or Mace 3.

Useless since it doesn’t affect you and if you wanted support you’re better off going 6 in honor or virtues instead

• It doesn’t have a target cap, so when you proc aegis the entire zerg receives it.

• It can proc pure of heart on everyone

• It can proc shattered aegis on everyone

• It can proc wrathful spirit on everyone

My opinion on the trait is that its very good, it goes much better with the mace due to skill #3. The skill has a 20 sec internal cooldown and yes it works with focus #5 or any block you do. That includes, shelter, virtue of courage, valorous defense etc.

So, shattered aegis would proc on everyone in the Zerg or just my group members? Because if it were to proc on EVERYONE in the Zerg, then that would be devastating to the opposing Zerg. Think about it: each member of the Zerg would damage five nearby enemies upon losing aegis! If Wrathfully Spirit and Pure of Heart are specced into, then each Zerg member losing aegis would damage five nearby enemies, gain retaliation, and heal! Wow! All because Communal Defenses has no cap?

Am I misunderstanding this, because this would make a guardian the most desired class for wvw zerging.

Its still tricky to land all of that, but yes, theoretically that’s how it would work. Get a few of those in a zerg and you’ll have fun times. The real kicker is because it has a 20s cap, you’d want more people running it, but with more people running it, you’re likely to just overwrite un-popped aegis. It can still easily work out very, very well.

Take the “whole zerg” comments with a grain of salt. Communal Defenses has a very short range. It’s slightly larger than the range of Purging Flames, and a little more than half the range of a shout. If everyone is stacking and very tight in maneuvers then yeah you might get most of them. Maybe.

Alternatives/Thoughts

• Wasnt sure what to put on staff as sigils.
• Can swap out Superior Aria for Wrathful Spirit
• Can drop 10 points in honor and put into Virtues for Master of Concentrations

Oh forgot to say, intention of the build is for more WvW Zerg fights.

Its easy to land when you are doing something like teq.

it has very very low range.
it procs once every 20 seconds.
it is not that good for aegis alone or for pure of heart.
speccing also into shattered aegis and wraithfull spirit will make your overall build a meh…

it is only for very organized groups who are able to stack together and cover you.
