After all the changes that have been happening to the grand master traits according to the ready ups, I was really expecting what I would consider to be a “bug” to get fixed. Currently, although aegis is applied to all allies with no limit within the radius, the trait does not grant aegis to the guardian itself. I understand some people use Communal Defenses in WvWvW, but is there any reason for this trait to work as it currently does?

Simply making aegis apply to the Guardian and limiting the allies affected to 5, would make it be more in line with other traits that use the same wording. Guardians already have an entirely selfless grand master trait in Battle Presence. It seems to me that there isn’t much of a reason for Communal Defenses to behave the way it does now. Even traited, a 360 aoe aegis being applied at most every 20 seconds would still have to compete with shouts and Altruistic Healing, so Anet should either “fix” the trait or change its tool tip. Considering this is the only new Guardian grand master that seemed slightly interesting, it’s a shame that it doesn’t seem to work properly.

That would be SO broken. Com Def gives aegis to party every time to block an attack, and you want it to give it to YOU too, what are you high? That would basically mean, you block an attack and you get another aegis right there, block with that another pops up. You would next to never be without aegis, that would be incredibly broken

Imagine u have burn on block trait on,with mace focus weapons u can just burn ur foe down without losing hp.internal cd like what?8block in30sec?

It has a 20 second cool down, I’m not sure how there’s the abuse there that you guys are thinking. You people need to read the trait descriptions if you’re going to call me high…

To the person talking about the burn on block, you can already do what you’re talking about. In 30 seconds you’d gain 1 extra second of burning, because the trait will only activate once. So, for the record it’d be 1 block from mace 3, 3 from focus 5, and 1 from Communal Defenses. So 5 blocks, and focus 5 has a rather long cool down. And if you get all 3 blocks, you don’t get the damage from the detonation.

+1. stop talking crap before checking the facts. this trait is broken and should also aply aegis to urself. why? so we can make use of the aegis traits we have. if this trait would apply aegis to myself i could have more builds posible based on aegis healing and dodge healing instead of monks focus. this trait in combination with the aegis from the spirit shield (1 aegis every 12 sec when activated) makes it quity nice.

Agree with OP. The trait is too weak in its current form, has zero personal benefit, and unless you’re in a large group, has little benefit to the group. The ICD would prevent any abuse with giving yourself another block immediately after.

It most certainly should give yourself aegis, given the cooldown, so it can compete with the other 2 GMs. Which it really can’t mostly.
