I’m currently running with a trait build of 0/10/10/30/20 and I have my stats shown in the screenshot below. I have 40% Critical damage. I’ve heard but read little about the AH build a lot of people use, but I don’t like the idea of having to constantly spread boons. The trait build I’m currently running gives me the passive ability to remove conditions every 10 seconds, strengthens virtue of resolve’s passive effect, lengthens retaliation by 25%, shortens the cd on signets, and makes it so 2H abilities recharge faster. You can see my utilities in the screen shot. I’m just wondering what everyone else thinks I should do. I see so many screenshots of character’s with high attack/armor and way more critical and critical damage. I know this is because they have 30 in valor, but when everyone is doing it, is gives the impression it may be the better choice. Help me out here, please

Hey we are on the same server! Anyways, most people go 30 into valor because AH and the meditation heals are considered the 2 go to survivability traits. Unless you are going full glass cannon or full bunker with +healing they are almost required sadly. The other options are the greatsword heal which is grossly underpowered. Or symbol healing which is also sadly underpowered compared to AH and med healing.

You don’t .. spread boon for the sake of healing yourself.
It was never intended as ‘burst heal’ trait.
Valor’s Altruistic Heal is something that kept the Guardian running by constantly ticking back the HP from doing what the Guardian naturally does best, granting boons.

Even a non-support utility bar Guardian still has 3 Virtues that grants boons to his allies.

And you said you have more than 10 points on Virtue. That’s one extra boon per activation of the virtue. And in a dungeon party, it is 5 times the Altruistic Healing will trigger whenever you activate a virtue.

And the funny thing, despite going the Valor line that grants Toughness…people forget it actually increases Critical Dmg by 30% too.

And the trait Retributive Armor – converts 5% of Toughness into Precision – translating into more critical chance %.

So yeah, I can see why people get the wrong idea that ‘Why is Valor’s Altruistic Healing so good, it heals so little. I can do more dmg!’

It’s not just AH that makes going full Valor very attractive. It’s the sum of its parts.
Now keep that 20 Virtue, 20 Honor and go 30 Valor.
You still have that 20% Two-Hand Cooldown, 20% Shout Reduction and Passive Regen from Resolution with an added heals + critical damage boost.
