Pvp: Ive stubbornly been avoiding using DH instead have been trying core burn and support builds. Have silently cursed trappers many times. Almost made it into gold but couldn’t quite do it.
Drifted to the dark side last night and made a variant of symbolic (dh,honor,zeal)… wow. Good mix of damage, team healing, and survivability that I haven’t been able to create using core only. Probably true of all expansion elite specs being superior… I would probably have more wins under my belt if I hadn’t been so kitten stubborn about staying with a core spec.

I held a 75% win rate to platinum with core honor/valor/virtues. It stopped being viable at t1 plat where you face players who will burn your shelter.

? Why not just take dh and run full medi or a symbol build. There’s more traits then trapped traits ya know.

Because guardian weapon coefficients are so low you only have the dps threshold to kill the glassiest of players. Also if you spec to bunker any attrition class will still kill you after a while. That’s why power guard is so sadly reliant on test of faith to push his damage into a killing range. It’s a lingering 2012 issue from back when guardians weren’t meant to deal damage, and the damage dealing classes didn’t hit hard enough to down a bunker guard.
