So like a lot of guardian builds, I’m traited so that I passively remove 2 conditions every 10 seconds. I use “stand your ground” to break stun and remove CC’s. Generally I am ok.

But every so often there are those situations where I’m getting perma CC-ed (f-ing dredge) or having like 6 stacks of confusion heaped onto me, situations where I need these conditions off of me IMMEDIATELY. I know guards have some on demand condi removal utility skills but like I said, generally I don’t need access to them and would rather not waste a utility slot when I just happen to run into an annoying mob.

How do you experienced guard vets manage these situations, please let me know! If it is necessary to equip an on demand condi cleanser like contemplation of purity or smite conditions or something else, which is the better option?

I either rely on my Runes of the Soldier or Absolute Resolution so that I can always remove conditions on demand.

Yeah I tend to use soldier runes all the time and it helps a lot if you run shouts, which most Guardians will. It’s really helpful since Conditions are the main counter to Guardians.

Rune set-up can help with either lyssa or soldier. I generally just overpower conditions with healing in PVE. Most conditions aren’t too bad. Bleed and burning are usually easy to out heal. Super long lasting conditions are wiped out with purity or signet. The only two bad conditions are chill and poison when you need to heal. I would just equip a condition remover for fights you know will be condition heavy.

In PVP it’s helpful to have something on your bar whether it be runes/traits/utilities that can quickly wipe out lots of conditions quickly.

If you run with shouts, Pure of Voice coupled with Soldier runes will give you 2 condition removal per shout. There’s also currently a bug with Hold the Line so that it removes 2 conditions with Pure of Voice, so that shout will remove 3 conditions, making it just as useful as Virtue of Resolve when traited with Absolute Resolution. This means you don’t need to slot meditation skills if you don’t find them useful.

Even if you choose not to use Soldier runes, pure of voice can really help you with your situation. This trait also applies to allies, so your shouts will cleanse those in your party as well. :-)

Oh, and if you utilize Stand Your Ground, that can help keep you from getting CC’d with it’s Stability boon and ability to break stuns when cast.

Hope that helps.

20 points in virtues: IX absolute resolution : It does not proc confusion when used. Personally i tend to save and use light a light field+ WW for condi removal (when fighting condi types) instead of for the damage aspect.
As for equipping a condi removal as utility- if you need to, then do it.
Dredge and confusion? sounds like EB
