Just because he didn’t advertise it as support doesn’t make it any better. It’s still a stupid build. If your actual goal is to reach the deep ends of DPS without thinking about pesky things like support, you should be playing thief and elementalist. You can try as hard as you can and your “non-supporting, pure dps guardian” isn’t going to replace one of these two in the dps slot. A class should be played with its strengths.

When you run pugs all the time you see a ton of different builds. Most of them are not “Meta” builds at all. I ran with 2 other guardians the other day who were running “commando front line” build. Now I have no idea what that is (probably posted on the forums here somewhere or on youtube), but it certainly wasn’t the meta build and we did just fine.

This is not to say that I think nemesis build it top dps but like I said I thought it was an interesting video and wanted to open discussion on it as well as the dps he was putting forth. He says it’s a pug build and that is about what it is.

^^ And it’s worth mentioning that Guanglai Kangyi’s builds are good —just not as effective as the meta. His Guardian PUG build is probably better than Nemesis’ because it provides protection and might for the party and it’s just as easy to use: I am a build link

I really don’t even know what you’re getting at anymore. The build has been discussed, it’s unanimous, the build is inferior in nearly every way. Obal put it to rest on the first page. If you want to use it, no one is stopping you, I hope you have great success with it.

Alright, so Meta build has better DPS…
But lets talk about the weapons for a second. Objectively, does GS outdps Scepter+Torch?

Scepter 3+Signet of Wrath makes it pretty easy to immobilize a target…. Also if you’ll be circling the target you can keep the Smite damage going

Yeah great. Signet of Wrath itself is a pretty giant fail in almost any situation and casting it and scepter 3 costs time and therefore damage, working against the whole purpose of somehow maximizing DPS.

smite is pro against large stationary targets

It has to be large too. Smite does very bad damage against ordinary-sized mobs. It also needs to be able to crit, so it’s not that useful against stationary objects either. It’s primarily good against stuff like Oakhearts and the COF Effigies but most bosses don’t actually come that big.

Now that one makes me curious. What am I missing that being unable to crit would be a big deal for the scepter? Right now I’d estimate that it should hit all weapons the same.

You mean it would be Optimal under these conditions. Nemsis’es test, on the other hand, was made on Ordinary sized mobs if I ain’t mistaken, and while it wasn’t the scepter’s optimal conditions it was enough to outshine the GS by a little

Because Guardians have RH Strength. It’s the same reason why you don’t use sword on non-crittable objects.

If he thinks scepter can outDPS GS on a single small target then they probably were. I think I’d have to, you know, see the method to actually know for sure. And you seem pretty opposed to actually describing anything this guy does.

I have to say that i always played necro as main char, so i followed nemesis for a long time. This build is bit …. well risky. Just becouse its not that mainstream and i find it not as good as he thinks. You all show pluses and negatives of this build.

First of all, its your choice to play build which you want … zerk, nemesis build, so funky build, tanky build …
If you wrote in LFG description that you looking for zerg, and some minionmancer comes … you can kick him, is your right
But one thing annoy me is that if want to find normal (not speed run) party for Arah, you cannt. Every good player is playing zerg and want only zerg. And its really difficul to find some kind of mentor, or experienced player which dont care about speed run, but about fun.

I know that lot of you have fun = speed run, but for those who disagree … well they have a small chance to do a good run.

But all of this is problem of devs

I still have a knight set that’s been collecting dust in my bank for ages. Can I have my 25 gold back? :p Just kidding, it did its job back then so we could learn better stuff later. It’s just the reasoning was questionable since the idea that toughness draws aggro has never really been proven though.

As for Nemesis, since I used to play necromancer, I came across his guides and never really agreed with them but at least he had his reasons besides really strange ones revolving avoiding Curses 5. But here he doesn’t have it right at all and really needed more time to learn the class. It’s not intuitive that +% modifiers are what really boosts damage and certainly a lot of dps guardian builds were made after Strife that pretty much ignored the idea of 25 virtues. Yep.

I wonder if a dev bought into this build…

I think Nemesis designs builds in a void that theoretically would fulfill a role in most MMORPG’s. The problem is they don’t fill a role in GW2.

ZERK. NOT Zerg. Stahp! Nao!
Zerk means berserker stats(assassin too mostly).
Zerg is a playable faction in starcraft. Also used to denote the lolfest in wvw.

Nemesis Class cannon Necro is fail and far behind max dps necrobuilds, his condimancer is meh. His Hybridvideo is the only good, but even there he made alot of mistakes (their is no other way to play a hybrid necromancer) for example is wrong.

Zepter is good vs BIG stationare targets. Bosses like lupicus and a few other. Versus 99% of all other bosses it´s subpar.
Because their are 15 traitpoints which could have spend into more GS/Sword dmg. (UC and +1% per boon).

He is loosing all traited support (WoR/Condition remove/shout CD/Blind and Mightspam at trash)
He is losing everything, rly everything what a guardian makes a guardian.
And what´s people make to pick up a guard.

If i just want more dps i pick up ele or thief but never a guardian.
So losing probably 5% guard dps (i think less) which means 1% party dps loss. But i´ll get much more dmg because of less blinds/blocks/reflects? Rly a bad trade.

So the build is bad, sad but true. Better then 0/5/30/30/5 AH ok, but still bad.

I’m abit confused why you made such a big reply, all i basically said is that the man made a video with a kittenty build to fill a niche that simply doesn’t exist, just so he can earn a buck.
He did the same with mesmers a few months back, kittenty build, but made a lot of views and revenue off of that video.

No. At absolute best you can expect about 5 dollars per 1000 views. In reality it’s more like 1.5-2 dollars. I believe youtube ads require clickthroughs to actually add to your revenue though, which means that anyone with an ad blocker isn’t contributing.

You can get about 2-3$ CPM on a network, especially someone with his subcount.
As for the clickthroughs, not needed if you use “pre-roll”, “mid-roll” and lastly “post-roll” adds, which he uses.

Anyways, im gonna stop here, dont want to derail this thread any further, my apologies.

If someone cant sum up their build in less then 5 minutes on video then it doesnt need to be watched. Over the threshold the presenter starts filling in time with “how I felt about this” and “this is good but this can be good sometimes”. I hate that kind of kitten, I dont need someone thinking for me or wasting my kittening time with dribble. Sure I skip through a lot sometimes, but cmon.

This " My kitten is bigger than yours" discussion again? The other one about the necro ended up getting kitten down bulecause it contributed to absolutely nothing… Its been 4 pages, lets close this up already.
