One is 10% increased damage when the foe is burned, and the other is 10% increased damage to foes afflicted with conditions. If the foe is burned, do you get the increased damage from both, or just one?
Yup – all damage modifiers stack multiplicatively. ( Fiery Wrath, Radiant Power, Unscathed Contender, Elusive Power and Power of the Virtuous + all weapon specific traits )
This is the reason current best guardian dps builds don’t trait into Zeal beyond Fiery Wrath, but try and get access to as many modifiers as possible.

True, but the reason the meta DPS build doesn’t go beyond Fiery Wrath is because you want to keep Vigorous Precision and Superior Aria (or RHS depending on what you prefer). Otherwise you can add another 10 points into Zeal for Zealous Blade and get another 5% damage modifier.
The qurstion is ur zealous blade actually vad higher dps compared to scepter/1h sword and continously swapping.
Personally i havent seen a single example of gs beating scepter/sword so imo zelous blade is moot and the only reason to use it is for the feel or the cc or aoe.
Aoe wise i find hammer more appealing due to higher uptime on aoe.
It might be personal, the dps junkies might be able to fill in the blanks.
If you use zealous blade…you still have the other damage modifiers that allow you to use sword/focus without a problem. That just means your burst weapon (i.e. GS) will deal extra damage. RHS is not required if you have a party that gives fury, banners and maybe even spotter. So yes, it is worth it if you are willing to trade off perma vigour and shout cool-downs.
Sorry, Android spelling suck.
Burst is kind of useless in pve, dps rules and i havent seen a dps maximizing build where gs has a place.
The issue i have with zelous blade is when you want max dps you need to swap and having a trait that only boots one weapon gets reduced with 50% by swapping.

There is no difference in playstyle from 20/25 and meta 10/25 (or 30). You get more power and the 5% while you are on greatsword. This alone equates to more DPS than the meta build. You are not forced to use greatsword all the time, nor should you since the playstyle is the same (i.e auto attack with sword and swap to greatsword for burst damage).
By all means if you want to go 20/25 you can use a different trait if you don’t like zealous blade.

Eh, it’s not always necessarily about completely maxing everything; having fun is where it’s at, and the GS is a fun weapon to use.
Also, great to hear that they stack. Thanks!

Isn’t current meta sword with GS on swap for burst? (without Zealous trait of course)
The only meta built with zeal 20 is 20/25/0/0/25. It’s good assuming organized dungeon party
