Does Signet of Mercy needs improvement?
I won’t derail this into another heal/support/zerker thread.
Sometimes I equip this signet when grouped with people I think are going to die somewhere awkward, but even with the best intentions it’s difficult to pull off. If you’re ever in a situation where signet rez would be better than a normal rez such as heavy red circles on the downed player… chances are they’ll die before this casts.
I did have a WIN moment the other night with this though, rezzed the only other 2 remaining party members during fotm38 molten facility bonus boss after red circles downed them.
Cast time should be quicker, radius needs to be bigger (or it needs to be PBAoE).
A PBAoE? you mean, like pressing the action key to res someone, only it looks more fancy?
The radius would be fairly large.

What i hate the most about the active skill is that 3-4s cast time
People are downed by those aoe from the fire boss at molten facility for example.
And i won’t be able to reach them in time so i use this skill instead.
But with such a long cast time they still die :l
Of course ressing more people at same time or bigger radios would be nice extra’s
But reducing the cast time would help a lot.
Of course it needs an improvement. A necro can ress 3 downed people in a 3 second cast time and a GUARDIAN (I repeat, a guardian!) can only ress one person in a 3.75 second cast time. Where is the kittening logic?
Even eles can ress 1 or 3 allies with http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Glyph_of_renewal The activation time is the same as guardian’s BUT it has many more positive effects such as full heal, heal and teleport, heal and buff that will res you for 5 seconds if you go down, and finally res 3 ppl
no ofc it doesn’t need an improvement, a useless passive which eats up a place on your utility bar, totally worth it!
Once in a blue moon I use it to res the Lord in WvW when it’s surrounded by a zerg of 50 enemies and I need to buy our server some time.
Don’t think I’ve ever used it in a different situation. The cast time is too long and the cooldown is too long. I don’t feel like Signet of Mercy has an actual benefit over manually resurrecting a player other than the range (which isn’t even 1200).
The active should place a Symbol of Judgement (Downed skill #3, heals downed characters for a lot, heals others for a smaller amount) with the same mechanics as the staff symbol of speed. 30-40 second cooldown? That’s pretty long for a symbol but its a pretty strong symbol.
Anet could care less about making sure guards are good at what their class was built for. I have fun with my guard in zerker gear, but i accept many deaths will come to me that way. I have a decent time with his boons for dayz support build, but if I’m out there by myself, oh well…death. On the other hand, my engie can provide support and damage as can my healing banner war, and they do so far better than my guard. :/
