Dragon Hunter Builds- post some builds

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQJAr/ksApZI8DBA-TFSEABhs/QwnAAR0DAg5vCeAApqEMG1fIT5HpAgYNA-w
Required utilities include Procession of Blades and Lights Judgment. Helpful utilities include renewed focus, SYG, Merciful Intervention, Shelter, Purging Flames, or similar skills.
Mostly carrion with maybe some rabid or settlers of needed. Optional runes include trapper, krait, flame legion, or similar. Weapons include scepter/torch and longbow.
Place your traps where you can guarantee the zerg will walk over them, like behind gates at objectives. Once they pop, the fun don’t stop. Don’t neglect to drop Smites, LB 4s, and LB 5s on top of your trap placement for the extra VoJ procs. LB 5 is particularly good as it drops wards, keeping your quarry inside the kill zone.
This is currently built around the potential change to Permeating Wrath, which will allow it to proc based on target location instead of your location. If that doesn’t happen, the build can still work, it’ll just be much riskier and be more likely you become a suicide bomber before an engagement. Judge’s Intervention will be a necessity to proc PW, or you could replace PW with another Virtues trait for hampered aoe burn application.

Well if it turns out to be a suicide build dont forget to yell Aloha Snack bar before you run to your death.
This should be fun in pvp with Scepter/Focus-Longbow Berserker amulet
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgIBnALUBrg~
Sigils Fire and Air on both S/F and LB.
Utilities I’ll go something like WoR, Test of Faith and some condition cleansing.

What I can see the Dragonhunter medi variant becoming similar to.
GS + Longbow
Zerker/Knights (stat uncouple means medi guards lose 300 extra toughness).
Signet of Resolve/Shelter, Judge’s Intervention, Smite Condition, Contemplation of Purity, Renewed Focus.

Spvp Carrion build
Weapons: scepter/torch, Sword/focus
Utilities:
Heal: Litany of wrath : 3 initial heals, 1 for skill, 1 for med activation, 1 for smite condition on heal, also does aoe damage and cures condition
Judges intervention: heal/stun break/teleport/burns
Light’s judgement: free 25 vuln stacks for some massive damage spikes
Undecided third utility Either smite condi, contemplation of purity, or the whirling blade trap. If trap would switch VoR trait to bleed on trap hit trait.
Renewed Focus: heal/invuln/virtue recharge
Honestly, im very torn about sharing this build in regards to spvp, because honestly i have a feeling its going to get Nerfed VERY hard, due to its burst from both physical and condi. The basic premise behind the build is this, you apply the normal hybrid theory, of condi’s plus physical, but ramp the physical up WAY beyond what we have now due to trait changes. Currently the with build i listed, you can have 60% crit chance, without having a single point in precision (15% on 1h weapon, 20% from fury, 25% from attacking a burning foe) Now, add in that we will have even more access to burning stacks thanks to VoJ’s active apply constant burns, The trait in radiance that gives Zealots flame (free long aoe burn) when we are crit, and also auto VoJ activation on block, and also MASSIVE vulnerability access through the trap, and also through big game hunter, which will scale very well with Sword #3, Scepter #2, and torch #5. This is all the reason why I took Litany of wrath as the heal as well, with our increase to burning, and condition in general if we take the bleed on trap trait, and the massive increase to our physical damage, i think that litany will become a real contender for a heal, considering it will do 3 base heals, 2 applications of fury, 1 condi removal, and heal us for the damage that we do, from ANY source, be it trap or condition. The only flaw with this build currently is the condition removal, but honestly, with the pure burst we can do, I will be curious to see if conditions will actually be an issue, or if just a couple removals with be good enough.

If I understand the Dragonhunter’s elite specialization correctly it’s all about keeping your enemies at distance while preventing them to come close to you. This could work nicely in node defending and taking nodes in PvP. So based on that I would use this bunker build in PvP:
Weapons: Longbow + Staff
Utilities:
- Shelter (block+heal)
- Fragment of Faith (trap with aegis)
- Test of Faith (cripple whenever enemy activates trap)
- Stand Your Ground (Stability+Condition Removal with Runes)
- Renewed Focus (invulnerability + virtues)
Cleric’s Amulet, Soldier Runes, Energy+Intelligence Sigils
Use the Longbow and traps to cap/decap the point. Then try and stay on the point as long as you can.
This will be THE Guardian version of Hambow, mark my words.
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgIDqAGcBrw~
Weapons:
Hammer
Bow
Utilities:
Shelter
Lights Judgement
Judge’s Intervention
Contemplation of Purity
Renewed Focus
Zerker Amulet w/ Pack Runes
if you’re getting rid of a meditation, it can’t be smite condition, its just too much damage/healing with 16 secs cooldown.

I wasn’t impressed with trap’s raw damage either. I imagine that’s because of the potential F1 procs associated with them. I doubt they’ll replace any medi builds but who knows, maybe 1 will be useful on medi builds. I do see them being very useful for non-medi build variants and condi builds.
Build 1
Full medi with weapons maximizing F1 procs. Carrion hybrid.
Build 2
2x traps with Judge’s Intervention – Assuming Permeating Wrath procs on target.
Full Conditions.

A good build will not take Dragon Hunter in its current form. Our core traits are far stronger, specing into DH is deliberately nerfing yourself.

Solid build…. please use one of the other 20 threads to complain…

This is a PVP build who could work on WvW changing the secondary weapon.
With the update, symbols will be strongly buffed, so I create a new build based on that with a lot of sinergy with DH
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgIBnAR4Brg~
LB + Mace/Focus
All symbols are really well scaled with power (2.5) and with Zeal line have 30%damageapply burn+10%burning foes+vulnerability. That means A LOT of damage.
If as well we increase their duration, size and heal allys…. its a strong mechanic.
Additionally, the LB give us the posibility of range fights and a new symbol who give us Vigor…. and Honor trait line minors synergize really well with that (lots of dodges+heal on dodge).
We have good sustain, and the posibility to play on melee and range. Mace was selected because it have the symbol with lowest CD (could be perma+regeneration+perma healing with the symbol) and if traited give us 500healing Power with blocks from itself and the focus. (focus as well aply vulnerability with 4 with the blind) and lost of might with EM and crits.
The conditions should be cleaned with the 3 utiliy skills (meditation, consecration…) and sigils (purity and generosity).
The point control with this build will be really strong supporting allies while do a lot of damage.
if you’re getting rid of a meditation, it can’t be smite condition, its just too much damage/healing with 16 secs cooldown.
If you can properly combo it, the amount of dmg you’ll do WITH Light’s Judgement will far surpass that of smite condition.
Also, for the master tier in DH, I wasn’t sure which one of those I wanted so it’ll all depend on a few factors. Will Shield of Courage block all attacks or just projectiles? If just projectiles, then Bulwark will be thrown on the backburner.
Arken, I only have 1 thing to say is that I would go for Virtues instand of Zeals, I feel the Dmg cap is already high and you miss a bit of substain…
So here is my Hambow:
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgIDqAVsBrw~
Utilities:
- Shelter
- Lights Judgement
- Judge’s Intervention
- Contemplation of Purity
- Renewed Focus
Amulet
- Zerker or Soldier ( If no change is made to intel sigil)
Runes
- Pact
(edited by Sublime Le Peasant.1932)
Normally I would but the only real sustain you gain with Virtues is the condi-clear. I already run Generosity/Purity on my staff which will be going to the bow so my condition clear is still going to be fine.
Hopefully i’ll be able to test it soon. The biggest reason I went with Zeal is because of the constant symbol output from Hammer.
Edit: I still think the symbol traits from Honor need to be moved to the master-tier in Zeal. Symbol line and all
(edited by Arken.3725)
I still sit quiet for Sigils (we dont know what changes may come)
It is true for resolve, but you will miss the acces to protection cause of the passive traits line..(Im more of a TeamFighter, so this suits me better)
- Could always replace resolve with slow, but the thing is we have no clue how ’’Slow’’ will be effective…
And Im not sure if you should rely on hammer for the Symbol Proc..
- The channeling is long and can be easy interupted (even tho you can dodge between channeling). Maybe with ‘’Sigil of Rage’’ on hammer you will be able to proc it more often…
But in my opinion it is still very situationnal.
I feel the same way about testing….
Edit: Yes (Writ of Persistence), should be move zeal Master. I dont know why Anet did not change it already..

The fact that it has Symbols Heal means it can stay comfortably in the Valor trait tree. We have two symbols known for dps and two symbols known for heals/support. You can choose to specialize in either.
Just because the symbols last longer and are bigger, doesn’t mean it’s a DPS trait. I don’t think WoP should be anywhere near the Zeal trait line. Actually, I think it would fit Virtues better than Zeal. But that’s because I’ve always thought if Symbols as utility rather than Dps. Considering hardly anyone stand in them and their combos are better utilized.

Not to break-off from the build discussion too much, it does make more sense to have it in Zeal since all the minors revolve around symbols. @Sublime, I use Hydro/Rage on my hammer and it works amazingly. I stated this earlier and I still believe it makes little-to-no sense to replace chill with slow(especially when moved to virtues and it doesn’t affect movement speed).
Edit: Might change to Radiance if Zeal doesn’t work out. SA only works with Hammer so we’ll see.
(edited by Arken.3725)
@Saiyen, not so agree with you we can discuss more in private if you want..

@ Arken, I do use Intel+Rage on Hammer and yes it does good work.
For the slow thing, I am not a fan of it either (mostly curiosity) , I am just not quite sure of the overall effects how it will be adapt into the game..
(edited by Sublime Le Peasant.1932)
That’s the problem, it’s competing against a FAR superior trait(Resolution). I used to run Intel/rage but then I realized the double chill seemed to work better. Also, what’s rough about Radiance is that none of the GM’s revolve around power specs so you’re kind of stuck with Amplified Wrath regardless of what you run with.
my hybrid guard with carrion amulet with 1500 condi dmg and 2000 power and 100% burning duration (20% sigil +30% rune +30% trait line and 20% trait torch)

the stacking burning never has been funnier along side good direct dmg

This is an awesome thread, and I’m really liking all the theory crafting going on here as well.

LB + Mace/Focus
Love this idea! It’s nice to see that there are more routes now for direct damage builds other then Med Guardian.
Love the idea of hybrid and pure condi builds as well.
For PVP I’m gonna try go for a soldier or knight build (maybe zerker)
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgIFbAL0Brg~
Weapons: LB / Sw & Shld
Utilities: Shelter – Test of Faith, Fragment of Faith, Light’s Judgment – Dragon’s Maw
Lot’s of synergy with the traps such as the cripple from ToF and FoF, in particular FoF synergizes with Unscathed Contender nicely as well as being a good supportive and defensive utility.
I may remove L’sJ in order to put in another stun breaker or defensive utility, but as of now the Virtues line acts as a means of providing defence (as well as UC) and it means with this build that virtues and the choices you make with using them are all the more important.
The sword and shield combo I feel are nice and balanced adding some much needed prot, a knockback with the added benefit of pushing foes back through ToF and adding cripple.
Sword gives some nice melee damage and works well with DH virtues and LB and shield allowing for skirmishing style jump in and out gameplay whilst manipulating your targets movements in order to make the most of your traps and abilities.
This is not a DH build
The Mad Kings Wrath
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgIB-AK0Bng~
The general idea of this build is to stack up insane amounts of pbaoe burns and provide cover conditions to make them stick.
If we can assume the burn damage from the ready up which is about 500 per stack (carrion, w/o might, with 33% damage increase, and 15% power conversion) and a potential of 25 stacks in a time frame of 2 seconds we are talking about 10.000+ damage per second on three! targets.
How do you achieve that rdicolous amount you ask?
With Mad King Runes, Permeating Wrath, and Supreme Justice.
Elite activation = 3x Hunters call each = 3 × 16 hits = 48 hits
Scepter #2 = 12 hits
Total: 50 hits / 3 = 16 hits = 16 activations
in addition this will provide 16 stacks of might = 540 added condi damage and power
On top you activate from further AA.
the beauty of it
Our new elite shout will grant us haste whoich equals an extremely fast apllication of the hunters calls and any further actions like scepter #2, swap GS #2 (which will again add pbaoe burns – not that we need them but hy there are not always three targets around)
and btw: the burn is unblockable
Armor: Carrion
Utilities: probably condi consrations, condi cleanse and speed
remeber where you heard it first …
