Hey guys,

How much crit is recommended for an EM+AH build, assuming no one is going to be giving me fury?

Will be running small man team, probably GS+ X with need for high mobility.

I would assume I will want at the least 30% and at the most 50%. I have a tendency to favor power and secondary’s over precision, and I do not want to be short on it when the build is designed around EM.

Do you’ll go full zerker or Knights? What weapons you gonna to use? If you use fast atk / multi hit weapons (GS, scepter, torch…), I guess that ~15% is enough, but if u go slow ones (mace, hammer), maybe at least 20%.

If you go full zerker/knights that crit chance already will be more than enough (~35%). There are a 1 sec internal cooldown to EM.

Sorry for my english.

I just like to point out hammer isn’t that slow overall because the symbol ticks a few times

20 in an environment with lots of AOE targets to hit, 30 solo is a good benchmark.

i have 28% and works pretty well, GS/sword-scepter. If you use “Save yourself” you have +20% with fury for 10 seconds and 48% is a lot hitting aoe damage, you have 1 critic by second for sure + SyS heal regeneration is a lot of incoming healing.

What exactly is the AHEM build used for? Is it just a PvP thing where it has a fairly heft sustainability?

Dont add in to much crit, the internal cd is a party pooper when it comes to EM.

What you should look at is the proccing of vigorous precision. If you run with 0% boon duration and 25% crit chance and we assume you hit 4 targets each second with the aoe.

This will generate one crit (average) on the four targets and procc VP. This cant occur before ICD (5s) has passed which means the procc will happen during the 6th second which will result in a 0,5s downtime on VP. Make that a single target and the downtime will be approx 2s per 7s of gameplay or 28% downtime.

If you increase crit to 50% you will have 1 s per 6s of gameplay or 16% downtime.

The numbers are examples to show the relation between the number of targets and crit chance.

My point is that it is vigorous precision and the surroundings that should dictate your crit chance, EM will work fine as long as you get VP to work.

In PvP I find AH just doesn’t cut it, the healing you receive doesn’t do enough and there are better ways to stay alive (bunker) or just all out dps.

I use AHEM for PvE and WvW. In PvE at times it’s a bit of overkill but then you get other situations where you can take a lot of damage and just shrug it off, especially in a solider shout build.

In WvW I use the same build because i’m lazy, but it’s great at keeping you topped up with conditions flying everywhere, Staff’s Empower is a shed load of healing with players around you.

The thing with AH+EM is that the EM will always be there and will proc pretty much when it comes off of it’s 1 second cool down due to our relativity fast attack pattern so 30% is more than enough.

To truly make use of the AH though you need to slam down as many boons as you can in succession so Symbols+finishing for more retaliation etc are little things to pick up since if you get a bunch of people sitting in your symbol you’ll be getting a nice 5×75 hp a second at tops + blast finishing gives another instant 5×75.

It doesn’t seem like a huge amount but over a period it all adds up and it’s what makes up for our disturbingly small HP pool.

If you are set on running EM+AH, go full Assassin. You won’t have 30 in Radiance so crit overflow is a non-issue.

Otherwise, go zerker. Eventually you will realize EM+AH is a crutch and you don’t need it, and switch to a DPS build. At that time you’ll have to trash all your Assassin armor for Berserker, so you might as well save yourself the time and money now.

i rather like EM even with its 1 sec icd when im not dodge healing im crit healing
u can swap sigils to make it better for small man and this is not so great for 1vX with the current sigils (zerg build) but u can live and do dps in big fights. all about might, crit and dodge and keeping the enemies focus on u.
it may not be the best but i love it
