This 1v1 doesn’t happen a lot anymore (my opinion) since the changes to Rev, but there are still times I run into Revs… and they’re still strong/capable (not OP). Does anyone want to share what they do when fighting a good Rev? Looking for responses from people that use LB + Sword & Shield/Focus

LB is not that good vs melee classes. (thief can outdodge you, war can reflect all attacks, rev can outpressure you with his extremely strong attacks, etc…).

Before i get into the weapons,
General guardian tips agianst Revs:
*If you’re in a build that doesn’t depend on the passive of “Virtue of Justice”, canceling Shield#5 with the spear is ideal.
*Range weapon is ideal when revs are on staff
*Watch out for the Sword#3 animation, if you can dodge the skill before they can land the 1st strike, the entire chain will be canceled and the cooldown will be spent.
*Roll forward against Staff#5
*GS#5 pull can also cancel the Rev Shield#5 but you have to wrap them with the chains earlier and pull when they start bunking.
*Revs have access to many minor heals, so Sigil of Doom is ideal.

Solo revenants would usually run a sword/shield or axe + staff.

LB is a natural counter to sword/shield.
Rev Shield#5 is usually their main tool to buy time for cooldowns and to get minor heals.
But If timed right, It is a perfect set up for a LB#4 >#5> #2 combo.
There is also LB#3 with “Heavy Light” that can go through Shield#5 canceling it entirely.
If you cast LB#5 half a second after they cast Shield#5 they will be guaranteed to be hit right after the duration ends, every time you do this they will then be forced to prematurely cancel the channel and also use a dodge to escape the inc cc.
If you are in a tanky enough build or in the moment healthy in hp, you can let them cast Sword#3 on you, this skill by nature would always make them end up standing atop of you, with this in mind you can set up LB#4 under you and then cast LB#5 around you and patiently wait until the attack chain ends, caging them in and letting them cook under the LB#4 symbol.

You just have to match you weapon rotation being that you are always holding a LB when they have sword/shield.
But do keep in mind that by having “Heavy Light” trait, you are a bit more vulnerable to a more condi oriented Revenants.

Now for when the Rev is holding staff.
Sword/Focus helps more than Shield on guardians.
Rev Staff is normally a counter against melee weapons, but Sword/Focus Guard have all the necessary tools to balance their melee advantage.

Staff#2 daze can be avoided by applying blind or putting aegis when you see the weakness condi applied on you, I find it that if i cast Sword#2 right after i receive a weakness, i can bait them into casting the daze while in blindness.
Staff#3 is a channeling projectile skill and it’s very easy to read, It is almost similar to Sword#3 on guards except Sword#3 is stronger for the fact the it can block projectile.
so as long as you cast Sword#3 when they cast Staff#3 you will be fine.
Focus#5 can still be casted while being dragged around by Staff#5
Shield#5 on guards have little use against a 90% melee class.

While LB is a counter to Shield, Axe on Revenants is a counter to LB Guards.
LB is harder to aim because of the added mobility by axe, and axe offhand gives access to torment, And if they have demon stance the choice of having “Heavy Light” instead of “Hunter’s Fortification” will hurt you more.

in the off chance that you’re fighting a condi rev usually (mace/axe),it is more of a demand on your ability to kite and good use of cleanse than weapon choice.

im off to bed, pardon any spelling or grammar errors, ill fix them tom.

In 1v1 scenario vs. power revs, I find the following two things help a LOT:

1. Burst them coming out of their sword 3. They usually like to follow sword 3 up with some auto attack or sword 2. My favorite is to lay ToF, purposely let them use sword 3, count 5 strikes, then immediately shield 5 them at the end + f1 pull them back through.

2. Watch for their glint heal. If they are on glint and at lower than 70% hp, do NOT use ToF. Good revenants like to match up Glint heal to your bursts and ToF is one of the easier burst skills for them to do this on. Keep dps up (symbols, auto attack, maybe some CC) but wait till after Glint Heal to lay on your burst.
A good revenant is not going to beat a good DH unless they make good use of their glint heal (which they can if you faceroll).

So just a few tips:
As mentioned previously, LB #3 cancels the shield 5. It is very useful when they are low health. If im already in melee range, i like to combo this with Test of Faith, triggering the trap and then pushing them out of the trap and canceling their block at the same time. Works great if they are low on health.

You can use their sword 3 to set up a trap. Standing just inside the ring of Test of Faith as their sword 3 ends can get you 1 or 2 procs on the ring. You can also plant alot of symbols (LB 4+Sword 2) for a lot of dps if they try to auto attack you after sword 3.

The most annoying rev skill imo is sword 2. They will usually follow sword 3 with sword 2, so setting up counter burst while they’re in sword 3 is important to capitalizing on them not dodging if they combo the two skills. Because of this i save my block (focus 5) for after sword 3 and do 1 dodge instead.

Staff i found very easy to counter with longbow. Use wings of resolve for mobility and set up some true shots to DPS them. If you are 1200, just use auto attacks and let CDs replenish so u can burst them to death.

Finally, when they heal, use LB 3 and stop attackign. This keeps them from getting free auto attacks in on you and i find it helps me mentally stop my attacks to keep them from healing.

Theres more but im in a bit of a crunch for time, and they have been mostly covered in the other posts
