So i’ve played around with Firebrand and well all i have to say is “Woohoo!!!”.

The new spec is perfect and to be honest something i’ve always wanted or rather expected the Guardian to be. More like a paladin then some kind of jack of all trades.

It fits, it works and it’s a whole lot of fun.

Don’t get your hope up yet, i agreed Firebrand is fun but the burn stack is insane enough to make it the first specs get nerf in near future.

I think i love it more than dh in pvp.
Went sage amulet with fb, honor and virtues and i felt i had a response for everything. need a condi spike? use justice 3>4>2>1. Deadeye giving you trouble? courage 3. team needs heals or you need condi cleanse? resolve 5>4>2.

If you take the trait in the honor line that heals with aegis, you can use courage 1 as an emergency heal with a stab spam.

I just felt like i was never out of options once i learned by memory what each tome skill does.

The support aspect will be near useless since you’re melee but everything is a cone so it will never hit your allies.

Indeed, with current mantra implementation, the support aspect is a stillbirth that isn’t even worth to be remotely considered.

I am trying it out, so far I hate the spec. It seems worst to use as condi build on WvW because of the nerf of VoJ passivle on the tome. Also, the cast time on tomes should be a little short, 3/4 is too much.

Also, the mantras are worst than I expected. They could at least increase the range to 600 and width to the old Staff #1. It is basically impossible to hit someone.

But I still need more testing.

Considering you can stack even more without FB i think it will a pretty misdirected nerf.

The mantras need immediate fixing.

They’re basically sword auto attacks. 300 range cone? is this a joke?

Might be wrong but felt like yet another condi spec to me. So boring.

Oh yeah totally, the mantras are just meh, they pretty much require you to hold their hand but the books are so awesome.
Definetly expecting them to make the Mantras usefull along the way. Tons of things are bound to change, for better or worse.

The general feel though of where they want togo with the class seems right, proper support wich is i think, what most people are looking for in a Guardian.

And the axe seems just there so we can have a proper condi build i guess

You are rights proper support is what I was looking for, and firebrand doesn’t deliver that at all.

And if you, too, find the mantras underwhelming, don’t say the spec is perfect.

Jack of all trades master of none.

Need healer? Get Druid.
Need tank? Get Warrior.
Need support? Get Chrono.

I wish tomes played like proper kits that we can go in and out of them in a need, and not go into them and wait for 90 sec cd. I wish tome skills get higher cd but at the cost of no tome cd. So if i need to convert some condies into boons i take F2 use #5 (which has 35 sec cd) get out of tome and do some dps. Plus book ammo should recharge like mantras, 12-15 sec 1 book. Like initiative of thief. It could be effective and more supportive and complicated. And not stuck in one tome for 5 skills and than 90 sec cd. This sucks.
