I am currently running a mass burn/dps build
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUEQJARWlYgiDXGSKEg4EhNDA+vqHxbe37+AEB

I’ve decided to raise my survival a bit in dungeons by rasing my toughness
I think that the best method would be to change my armor, currently I use full “+power +vitality + condition damage” gear
my plan is to replace some of my gear with “+power + toughness +vitality”

I figured that I should ask people that might have a better idea before I waste all my time.
any suggestions are welcome and if my plan sounds good how many parts do you think I should replace?

EDIT: thinking about moving 5 points from Valor to Virtues

I think 30 points into Zeal is a waste. Zeal is one of the Guardian’s weakest trait lines. You’d actually do yourself more good moving 30 points into Honor. THat will give you 3,000 more hit points and 300 healing power. Plus, you can get two handed mastery, which will probably up your DPS more than the +5% damage from greatsword, since your GS skills will recharge faster. Honestly, I feel Honor is the best trait line the Guardian has. since it can be used to buff Shouts, 2 Handed Weapons, and Symbols.

Also, you don’t need 15 points in Valor. The minor trait at 15 just isn’t worth it. That’s 5 points thats better used elsewhere.

To maximize survivability, you’ll want to get power/tough/vitality gear, and max out the Honor line. You could go full out 30 points into Valor to maximize your toughness as well. I also think having 5-10 points in Virtues is a good idea as well.

I also have a good DPS Guardian build that has pretty decent survivability you can check out here:

Hope that helps.

it does look like a good build but not what i want
I like how my build plays and while it might not be perfect I do prefer it

however, two hand mastery does look tempting and my 15 points in valor have always bothered me

I go the other route … I run an Altruistic Healing build (0/10/30/30/0) with precision, power and toughness as my main stat focus. I might kill slightly slower (and I do mean only slightly), but I don’t fear jumping into a pack of vets or at a champ.

I’ve never been fond of glass cannon builds as they inevitably lead to discussions about how to make them tougher. Generally speaking, you need to sacrifice offense for defense …. how much is up to the comfort level of the player in question.

What it really comes down to imo is two things. Do you want massive pewpew or do you want to run circles around the guy with the big pewpew? In my testing i have found i personally end up doing more damage being a balance build with moderate attack and defense with massive healing threw Altruistic Healing when using staff than when im just a pewpew machine as i die so fast i spend a lot of time retreating or downed. I watch other guard’s around me when im out grinding champions dead on the ground while i just keep on trucking. Ya they might hit 500 or so harder but i normally make up for that and more while everyone is reviving them because they actually died. (And why people actually revive people when theres a way point at max 15 seconds away is beyond me as it takes 30 seconds to a minite just to revive you which in the end makes it that much longer as people who are reviving dead people are not damaging/debuffing the mobs.)
