My WvW build is hammer/staff, Wall of Reflection, Sanctuary and Stand your ground! (with the Consecrated Ground trait). Once I get into a zerg, I completely mess them up. Hammer immobilize followed by Ring of Warding, a sanctuary and wall of ref. behind them and everything is peachy… if I can get close to them
The enemy zerg will often start running at the first sight of us, and my build doesn’t really allow any gap closers, like a leap or blink skill. The hammer immobilize is so kitten slow I often find enemies just outrunning it, so not really viable. I considered Judge’s Intervention, but that would force me to forgo one of my very important utilities. Another option would be replacing the staff with a greatsword or sword/shield for the short cooldown leap/blink. Any thoughts?
Well apart from rerolling to a charr mesmer i would say you should drop the staff and go for sword/shield, seeing as Flashing Blade will work even when you are out of range. Plus with a shield you will have Shield of Absorption which means you can drop Sanctuary and take Judge’s Intervention instead. I know that Shield of Absorption is not as good as Sanctuary but it has a shorter cool down.
