Getting salty.
If you provide the build you are using and what exactly bothers you about them I can give you some pointers.
“Jim’ll Fix It and if he doesn’t it’s not broken”
smite condition and blow up the clones and a burst build to take the real one down quickly. Pro longed fights cant be won since when they see its downhill a good one will always disconnect.
So in short full burst if you want to win and ofc chose the right one when you do the burst.
Healway or any build with more than 5 points in honor wont win versus a skilled opponent in a duel situation.
Really the same versus a good thief, thay always have the option to disconnect and in order to win you need to surprise them. I can literally run for hours in wvw without getting killed when i play my thief.

Hmm I’ve never had a problem fighting Power or Condi mesmers the trick is to always find the real one (obviously) but when they blink there’s a small animation drag so you can follow it to where they go plus I use Hammer so H2 always blows up the clones quite nicely. Just keep practicing you’ll get it.
Also, if you’re talking about spvp then I don’t know because I personally think guardians are trash in pvp and pvp is terrible game more (imo) but in WvW I love my Guard

I dunno man I always duel with at least 20 Points in Honor..
Hmm i can only think of one mesmer build that could effectively not get touched or just barely get touched by a guardian and that would be the Clone on Death build that build is verry deadly to classes who have alot of aoe. plus killing the clones is basically like killing urself so i suggest you not do that lol. Same build im running on my mesmer and people love killin those clones.
Imo. there is no build counter for it. you just have to stick to the mesmer at all times. and do not kill the clones unless ur build runs alot of condition removal.
P.S that build is verry squishy so take advantage of ur big hitting skills ^^

Guardians in pvp arnt trash. watch the vid. its the player not the class pvp takes alot more skill with guardian killing people than it does in wvw Just saying.

Blinding a mesmer disables the torment block on scepter, the off-hand sword block and makes phantasm summons “miss”. I’d suggest trying to pressure the mesmer themselves as much as possible so they don’t have a chance to get phantasms out, though of course if they’re a stealth heavy build you’re going to have a rough time of it unless you’re good at anticipating where they are (e.g. if I’m stunned on my mes I use decoy and then evade at my opponent, it throws them off).
Morrï (Mesmer) | Serah Mahariel (Guardian) | Morrï Mahariel (Warrior)

Ehh I’m probably just biased cause I hate spvp in general didn’t mean any hate.
Plus in pvp I usally only have problems with Condi Engis where in WvW I don’t have much of a problem.

I tried everything agaist mesmer. No matter what I cant defeat them. If anyone can give me tips I would be sooo gratefull.
The solution is to use scepter/torch, mesmers will have trouble against that weapon combination.
Remember to use scepter as if it was a melee weapon, but gives you the privilege to extend your melee attacks.

Ofc you can but versus a properly built and played mesmer you wont have the damage to kill them fast enough so they cant disconnect in time. I only played maybe 50 hours mesmer at level 80 and i can always disconnect versus a guardian that plays tankish builds (>5 points in honor). They just kill stuff to slow and always give me the choice to disconnect.
EDIT: After reading your other posts i realise where you are coming from. To clarify things, the number of really good players in wvw is very limited compared to tpvp so it might be that you and i have completely different perspectives on things, hence why i also high lighted some stuff in my posts.
I have no issues killing mesmers in wvw either but the thing is that 99 out of 100 in wvw is just poor players with bad builds and the same goes for every profession. Its like playing a thief and being killed in wvw, its just bad.

A decent burst build played well will allow you to drop the person you’re fighting in the fist 10 seconds of a fight which stops them from doing anything and therefore means you survive.
I fought a Mesmer earlier and he started poping clones/phantasms etc but before he knew it I had already burst him for 15K and he was dead. God bless being able to teleport.

As others have said, a skilled mesmer is hard to beat because they’ll disappear when things don’t go their way.
You have to be very aggressive and keep constant pressure on them, and that means staying on-top of them. A high dps build certainly helps, provided you’re good at timing evades, blocks and blinds
The real mesmer will be:
- The one that dodge rolls
- The one with chaos armor
- The one that isn’t standing still or moving towards you
- The one that switches weapon
- The one that’s still on fire after cloning ( if you’ve given them Burning )
- The one with passive buffs
- The one that’s using non-auto attack skills
- The one with an off-hand weapon
- Generally the one that moves/blinks backwards when a clone is spawned. ( or stays to the outer edge of the battle ). Keep your eye on them at all times.
You get a feel for it after a while. If all else fails I think you can still untick “show NPC names” in the ui options to help highlight the real one
If the clones run toward you, dodge ( listen for the blink sound, it often precedes a shatter )
If you down them, and you’re running a dps build, be very careful when stomping them, because their Phantasm Rogue can one-shot you. If the use Deception mid-stomp to clone away from you, use Judges Intervention to move to their new position

A good way to tell who the real one is would be looking for the buffs provided by food/signets/bloodlust etc etc.

9 out of 10 mesmers I fought, disengaged after few minutes and never looked back. But as Brutality said, there is always that 1 guy who is skilled enough, to make you burn your burst on clones and troll you from there.
Tip: Superior Sigil of Fire on scepter does wonders to those clones.

idk if i saw a bug or not but u cant find them by signets any longer now signets are on every clone and phantasm lol. but i think it was a bug im not to sure but when i was fighting a warrior yesterday i tapped one of my clones and it had my signet of dom on it so. yea…. but im not entirely sure about it i would have to ask around.

Worked fine for me yesterday and I was fighting 2v4 which was me and a warrior against 3 mesmers and a thief. I can’t deny I was confused and needed a minute for my eyes to adjust after the fight but I always found the real one.

Also keep in mind you can put a target on people without being in a group now. really helps staying on them in the sea of clones. it will need to be re applied when they stealth though.

A guardian will almost never beat an equally skilled mesmer one versus one. Not that there arent strategies it just that the ammount of clones they can spit out and there ability to stealth against a good one he can counter everything you do.

Yeah, that’s a really great quality of life change for the solo roamer.
Didn’t ANet fix the “NPC tag” thing, so you can’t use it anymore to track the real mez vs clones?
